I want to reinstall Cumulus and start all records afresh

I have got in a real tangle with Cumulus v1.8..8 and my Watson W-8681. I have couple of major problems.
1: My editing of data files to stabilise my rain readings has made a things worse with the total rainfall for last year keeps appearing as part of the daily total.
2: I have a couple of gaps in the readings this year when the computer was switched back on in the morning and it failed to download the night-time readings.
As EasyWeather shows there is data going back to mid December i would like to remove Cumulus and the current corrupted “data/ini” files and re-install it so that is has data from midnight on the 31st December i.e. start with a clean sheet for this year 2010.
I could start just from today, but as we are going through such and “interested” weather period i would really like to get it up and running properly from the 1st January.

Geoff,
suggest you do a backup of your cumulus directory before you do the re-install - just in case...
To force Cumulus to read data from Jan.1st onwards you may want to look at the FAQ:
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/index.php?ti ... er_station
- and finally: if you have EasyWeather data from before Jan 1st that you'd like converted to Cumulus I can do the conversion for you. Just send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks Dane,
I've successfully iinstalled cumulus with the data for 12.15am onwards downloaded and installed.
Thanks for the offer regarding earlier data (the data on the station goes back to the 14th December) bu I don't think i need it as I still have the cumulus data to work on if I need to. I will be switching the computer off in a while and so will keep my fingers crossed that I have no further problems when I start it tomorrow.

Well I switched on this morning and Cumulus did its duty and successfully gathered all of the data from the Weather Station for the period overnight the computer was offline. Furthermore the rainfall reading are accurate so many thanks again to you Dane!
However, examining the newly created "Jan10log.txt" file created after editing the "Today.ini" file gives a start of 03/01/10 not 01/01/10 I edited in the Today.txt file. Very odd!

If you zip up and attach the diags folder, I should be able to see why it didn't get all of the data back to the 1st Jan.

There apparently isn't any data in your logger from before approx 0521 on 3rd Jan:

How can that be Steve? I haven't intentionally reset the weather station and EasyWeather is finding data back to the 14th December.
See attachment.......

I'm afraid I don't know. Cumulus has calculated that the timestamp of the entry at location 000100 (the first in the memory) is 1/3/2010 5:21:47 PM, and when it then wraps around to the last entry (location 00FFF0) it finds that entry unused, so it has to stop.
There are approx 500 used entries in your logger, at a 15 minute interval that's just over 5 days worth.
Easyweather downloaded all of that data back to Dec 14th just now?

That is strange....
I've just downloaded EasyWeather again and the log there is still growing.
Sent to you in my last message
Start 1 14-12-2009 17:49
Finish 2125 09-01-2010 10:23
Just downloaded
Start 1 14-12-2009 17:49
Finish 2132 09-01-2010 12:10
I think I might try another installation of Cumulus, this time altering the Today.ini to start and th 14th December ans see what happens. What do you think Steve?

Geoff,
I believe Steve is right: there just isn't data in your station going back longer than 3. Jan.
The EasyWeather.txt file you attached looks like an extract, so not much I can do about it as I am not sure which column is which.
Suggest you send me a copy of your full EasyWeather.dat file in a PM, then I'll convert it to Cumulus.
The you can combine my output with your own Cumulus data.

Yes, the log will keep growing, as EW adds new data to it. But there's nothing to indicate when it actually downloaded the older data.

You can try it, but I can pretty much guarantee that you'll get the same result; the data just isn't there. For there to be data back to Dec 14th, at 15 minute intervals, that's about 2500 entries, which means the logger would need to be well over half full. What's the indicator on the console showing?

Actually to complicate matters I changed the frequency from 30min to 15min in December. If you mean by the EasyWeather Console the main screen it shows

I suspect that changing the frequency clears the memory, but I don't know for certain. But if it was December, that doesn't explain it anyway.

No, the actual console, the station itself. It has an indicator that shows how full the logger memory is. Bottom RH corner, I think.
