Update Issues
Steve,
For some reason when I upgrade my record light starts blinking and when I click on it, it shows my windchill with an all time record. It is never the same value. The time it shows is the time I updated the program. It looks like to me it messing with the windchill or all time records. Hope that is enough info. I have to go and edit my all time records. Just thought I would let you know.

Re: Update Issues
Your website is currently showing a windchill of 40.8F, but your record is 1F at 08:57. The windchill is just supplied by the VP2, and all Cumulus does is display it and check to see if it's lower than the already exiting record. It's hard to see how that could go wrong. Can you edit it now to correct it, then we can see what happens?

Re: Update Issues
The 1F @ 0857 is incorrect. Every time I update, the windchill all time record gets reset to the time I update the program. My all time record windchill this year is -40F according to my console and that was back in January of this year. Since I have been using Cumulus my low windchill is 10.2F back on the 27th of October. I have been using it since the middle of September.
Chuck
Edit: I just had a brown out here and when the computer came back up and my programs restarted the all time windchill was reset again for the time the program it was started. This time it showed a value of 6.9F.

Re: Update Issues
It seems to be OK now. Does it only reset to the wrong value after a restart?

Re: Update Issues
After a restart it is ok. It only happens when the program is updated or a brown out. Hope this helps you out.

Re: Update Issues
Steve,
Look at my all time record windchill. My little ones got to my computer and closed things out while I was at work.

Re: Update Issues
When did it get shut down, and when did you start Cumulus again? Was it actually running at 11.31 pm when that figure was recorded, or did it come from the data logger at startup?

Re: Update Issues
Looking at your graphs, I think it closed just before 1900 and started up again at about 0800, so the value was created from the logger. And I have spotted a potential problem in my code which calculates the windchill from the data in the logger. I don't really understand why I'm calculating the windchill as it's stored in the logger.
Basically, every time I read a value from the logger, I have to check that it's not set to an 'error' value (approx -32000) which means that the logger didn't store the value at that time for whatever reason. When calculating the windchill, I check the wind speed but not the temperature. My guess is that at that point, the temperature held an 'error' value and I used that to calculate the windchill.
I can't think of any good reason for calculating the windchill instead of using the value from the logger, so I'll change it and give it a try on my system to see how it goes. I should have a fix shortly.

Re: Update Issues
I realised why I was calculating windchill myself - the values supplied from the logger are garbage.
Anyway, I've fixed the problems in my code, in the latest build, and hopefully this won't happen again.

Re: Update Issues
It worked Steve. I updated my all time windchill and when I shut it down restarted with the new update the windchill stayed the same. Thanks for the fix.

Re: Update Issues
Steve,
The latest build 510 introduced the issue with the windchill back again.

Re: Update Issues
I haven't changed that code in 510. I assume the bogus value appeared when you started Cumulus up - i.e. it was read from the logger? Or was it while Cumulus was running normally?
Edit: Oops. I think my windchill calculation (which only operates when downloading from the logger) always gives windchill in Celsius.

Re: Update Issues
It happened when I updated to version 510. I have no issues when it runs normally.

Re: Update Issues
Yes, my wind chill calculation works out the wind chill in Celsius, then there's a bug in my routine which converts to F which means it never converts.
I should have a fix shortly.
