Cumulus Support

Probably a dumb question, but I'm struggling a bit with Cumulus hanging when I try to get this set up:-

Is it possible to get Cumulus to deploy the web data files without using FTP (ie, by direct windows copy)?

I've got a local apache webserver, and I currently just copy files into the appropriate path, rather than FTPing them up. I've got this working with FreeWX, but can't find a way of doing it with Cumulus.

Cumulus can copy instead of ftp if you list the files in the 'files' tab of the internet settings, and don't tick the ftp box. Then you can specify a destination file name/path in the 'remote filename' box.

Hmm. Can I get all the the "standard" files/images transferred that way?

Well, yes... and no. You could turn off 'include standard files' and 'include standard images', and then list them on the files tab instead. But the obvious problem is that there are more files than available slots. It's something I really ought to do something about.

Actually, there is the 'copy images to folder' setting, so that reduces the number of slots required considerably...

I'm trying to use the "copy images to folder" and most of it works. But I'm having a problem with the gauges. All of the bar gauges Temp. etc. do not show up. The wind speed (circle gauges) do show up though.

Any ideas?

Those aren't images; they are created using javascript from the data in the gauges.htm page, so you'll need to set up the javascript files, dbimages folder and contents as in the help.

Thanks for the reply. I followed the instructions as described, file structure, copied files, etc. (except I pointed to a local folder, not FTP) but I still get the following text only on the Gauges link.

Outside Temperature Wind Chill Heat Index
small small small
Dew Point Outside Humidity Rain today
small small small
etc...

The gauges below show up file.
Wind Direction Wind Speed Wind Distribution

It's like it isn't seeing any of the "dbimages" folder files.
Either I'm completely stupid or I'm missing something obvious.

Is your wz_jsgraphics.js file in your new 'root' ?
ie. the same directory as graphs.htm

Yes it is in the root folder. Well I gave up on the whole local file idea.

It works fine with the FTP site though. Maybe someone can figure it out and write a FAQ to do it.

I don't know what would go in the FAQ, it just works for me. I created the same structure locally as on my web site, and the gauges page works fine. Perhaps you could zip up your local structure and we could have a look?

Any more news here? Any guide or FAQ?
I'm running a local webserver (Jetty) in the same box (Windows Vista) as Cumulus and I would be very happy if there was a checkbox and/or folder (destination) field (with browsing utility?) being able to copy "Standard files" and "Standard images" to my local webserver folder.
Another way would perhaps being able to change location (destination) for Cumulus local web files?
Apart from this I've found Cumulus software being very useful and I would happily donate if I only got this working...

Well, as I said, I'm not sure what would go in a guide beyond what's in the help. Lots of people have this working. You list the files on the 'files' tab and specify the location you want them copying to, leaving the ftp box unticked.

Yes, this is a possibility at some point, but I can't do everything at once. This already exists for the images.

What have you done and what isn't working?

Maybe I should post this as a feature request (if it isn't already), but how about adding a field for both 'normal' updates and 'realtime' updates to call a script or exe. Then folks could do whatever copying/processing/ftp'ing etc they wanted after each update?
