New WH1080 problem :-(

Post by chap »

Hi all - first post and sorry it has to be one trying to illicit some hellp from someone.#

Just got my first weather unit - a WH1080 from Maplin. Going through the setup and have got everything in place as per the instructions but the sensors do not seem to be communicating with the screen unit. Screen fired up OK, sensor led lit for 20 secs as per instructions and flashes every minute or so as expected.

After 20 minutes I see no data regarding the external sensors. Units are approx 1 metre apart (awaiting deployment once functionality confirmed. It's been on for over 20 minutes now - anybody got any ideas as to what I haven't done ??

Help !!

Remove the batteries from the screen/console for a bit then put them back in and see if that works.

Hi Gerard,

Thanks for the reply - tried as suggested but no response. Have got new batteries in both units. Think it may be faulty and will have to be returned :-(

Steve,

I've had my WH1081 from Maplin for a few days now and still going through tweaking the settings. When I placed the batteries in my sensor array the LED lit up for good 5 - 10 seconds and then pulsed a couple of times, did yours do the same ?
Regards

Hi Malcolm,

Yes and it's still doing it but there's no external data being displayed on the screen.

Steve,

What a bummer.

Does the display have the inside temp, humidity, and pressure displayed.

If so it means the inside sensorsare working, just not getting the transmission.
Or the transmitter is not transmitting?

Hi Gerard,

Internal readings OK - I guess it's a problem with the external unit so suspect I'll be repacking it before the night is over .

My WH1091 did exactly the same thing, but as said above taking the batteries out of the screen and putting them back in then doing the same to the transmitter seemed to do the trick and its been working fine ever since. If you've done this then yours may well be dead on arrival.

Shame - but at least Maplin are good at exchanging. I think quite a few of these stations have been DOA :(

The quality control does seem to suck a little. My unit has dead zones on the touch screen, but not enough to make me take it back, especially as I really wanted to use the PC to view the results.

It does look as if Steve's unit is faulty, given that he's said he's replaced batteries and both units appear to be powering up.

After 20 minutes I see no data regarding the external sensors.
Hello Steve,

I own an Alecto WS-4000 ( WH1081 alternative ), purchased a week a go.
It took several hours before I got some data from the outside sensors.

Regards,
Gust.

Thanks to everyone for your responses and suggestions. Despite numerous attempts to get a signal from the external sensor, no luck so I'll be on the phone in the morning. I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks again.
