good question that has come to my mind previously too ... would be handy on occasion. Maybe it is a text vs real issue?

Actually, the scatter plot is a deviation and handles the tooltip a bit different from e.g. the line or spline plot.

in CumulusUtils I use the following to get a good tooltip (see my site for an example):

                pointFormatter() {

            },
