Cumulus Support

I recently updated our Raspberry Pi (Orange pi actually, but I digress), and updated to the most-current version of CMX. I see that it has settings for sending alarms on various conditions via email. That's great, but none of my email options (yahoo mail, or gmail) have a sign-in option that uses a username/password. They both either use 2FA, or use a special coded access called "OAuth2". That seems incompatible to me unless someone has figured out a workaround of some sort?

You can do this with Gmail by setting up something called an application password. This topic should help you.

Thanks freddie! That was exactly the ticket. I did not know that existed. Now I can go set up a similar thing for our NAS, which has never been able to send an email.

I will add that Yahoo mail also has an app-specific capability. So if anyone reading this thread is subscribed to Yahoo mail, you do a similar operation in the account settings.

I have been using email for these alarms but find that I miss them unless I'm continuously looking at emails So recently thanks to Olicat I discovered pushover, it's not free but at $4.99 for a one time purchase not bad and has a 30 day free trial period. This sends notification to my Android devices so I can see immediately if I get an alarm. I have created a small PHP script to run on the alarms in CMX and it works well. Means I don't have to continuously check emails

I also use and recommend pushover for sending data to my mobile. Great value for money...
Been using it for several years for cmx and my aeroplane tracker pi.
