5,000 days and still going strong!

Another significant milestone for my weather station today. 5,000 days of weather recording. It's not been without a few heart-stopping moments and renewal of equipment but I'm sure we all go through those. No breaks in records which I'm really pleased about and no stupid records because I'm fastidious about quality of data.

I have to give particular praise to my trusty Samsung NC10 netbook. Bought in April 2009 it suffered a fan failure in Feb 2020 and a HDD failure in April 2021 but otherwise has performed fantastically. Still running XP together with VirtualVP which allows me to run WU and another package the name of which escapes me.

Respect to to Davis equipment. I'm on my third anemometer, a new capacitor in the ane transmitter and a new ISS was needed in December 2021. But nothing lasts forever and after nearly 14 years I'm so pleased I chose Davis for my weather station.

And Cumulus 1 just keeps on rolling.

Pretty Impressive.

My VP2 Dayfile sits at 2324 Records.

I merge it daily with my old Fine Offset C1/CMX dayfile to upload for BJ's Yadr, but even the two combined still sits at 4222.

The older you get Phil the faster time moves. 😁 I can still remember the excitement of seeing my data on WUnderground on day 1.

With my Microsoft Access skills I load the dayfile into it and can analyse the data in so many ways. It also helps to spot and correct any dodgy data.

Biggest dread is something breaking down mid-winter. :?
