Build 3220 and CumulusMX Docker Image

Have you had any issues with the latest version? My station has stopped responding (station found, stream open failed) that started about a minute after I updated the container this morning.

I thought mine was fine, but when I checked the ecowitt display all services were down but it was still showing signal. station webserver was down also - I ended up restarting everything including the router to get it back up again and was almost about to go and hard reset the station.

But it all seems to have started working again, I don't think it's related to cumulus but very weird if our issues are similar but coincidental.

It appears my data has not been collected since 11:45 last night.

Interesting coincidence...

Mine appears to be completely out of it. Station is found but stream won't open. Clearing out the console several times doesn't seem to have helped in the least.

What Ecowitt model do you use? I can see some stuff in your signature but I’m not super clear on the various components, they seem to be sold under all sorts of numbers. I inherited one of the cheap clones and I'm debating binning it and installing something a bit more reliable. Today it won’t pick up anything from the outdoor unit.

This is the one I have, that and a bucket of addons

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Forec ... r_1_7?th=1

There are three models of this variety, I have the black one without the external antenna - the one with the antenna has other software features such as changing from a white background to black depending on the time (I think) and some other small things I'm not aware of.

You could also look at the wittboy - which is probably the future as it has fewer moving parts, however some people report varying degrees of accuracy.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ECOWITT-Statio ... B09QKXMKS4

Or you could buy a gateway on its own and then buy the different sensors separately. If you have the perfect locations for each sensor, this is probably the more accurate option. For the purpose of using cumulus, I think any of them are pretty much the same as they use the same server (the wittboy has an updated web server I believe)

Awesome, thanks.

I get a little confused between all the options as the all-in-one units appear to be the same (only variance seems to be 5 or 7 sensors) but then there are a whole lot of different consoles and it's not easily understood what the benefits between them are. Ecowitt's site doesn't help much either.

I had a look at the Wittboy but I saw all the dubious feedback about the rain sensor and figured I'd rather go with something simpler and well tested. I like the concept though.

I've also heard you can just buy a new (or additional) consoles but I'm unclear how that would actually work, I assume they're paired in some way. Given the price difference between a controller and console part too it doesn't seem worth it.

I think I'm pretty close now, just deciding if I go fully digital and get the GW1101 or if I want a screen so the HP2551 is the better choice.

As far as I understand, the biggest difference between most of the consoles is just how they represent things on display. There is some difference in usability if you for some reason would want to dig back to history data via the console itself. Also the newer 2560 console has internal inside temp and pressure sensor instead of a external one. There’s a good comparison chart on wxforum:

Actually they are not paired in a traditional sense. When started, the console just starts to listen if it ”hears” compatible sensors, and when it does, it stores the sensor id and from this moment on displays its data. If there are many sensors sending on the same area, you can input your own sensors id to console settings to get the data you want (at least on HP2551).

Ah, thanks for the explanations. That makes a lot of sense.

I had seen that post on WXForums but it looked like a wall of text! I didn't realise if you registered there are a whole lot of images that provide much of what I needed to know, so thanks for pointing out they had that.

Based on what you've said and the chart on WXForums it seems like the best option for me would just be a GW1100/2000 with the current station. Unfortunately they only seem to be available as a kit :/

Can someone split this thread from the original docker one please?

@Hucknz

Not sure where you are from but when you say they only come as kits, is there nothing here that would suit you? Possibly you can source the right item in your own country.

Apologies for hijacking the original thread, didn't mean to digress that far.

Sorry, when I said they're only in kits I meant that availability wise in our local region. Nothing is currently available as a standalone part down here :/ It seems we have very limited distribution in NZ and what little stock that is available in the region is from Amazon Australia, otherwise I need to order out of China or the US which comes at 2-4x the cost.

I can get a GW1101 for $122, which gets me a new station and a wifi console. I'd prefer a GW2000 but there aren't any available locally. If I just wanted the GW1100 they retail for $35 but again there are none in stock so I'd have to go via Amazon US (~$99+shipping) or Ecowitt direct (~$60) but with no guarantee that console will fix the issue.

The UK prices look even worse for you guys

I think I'm pretty much set on the GW1100 at this point, especially after the weather vane blew off last night.
