Ad-hoc timed database update

To enhance the already-available database updates performed at the realtime interval, the logging interval and at rollover, I would like to have a database update performed at an ad-hoc time (or times), times/details to be configured via the settings pages. I would use this to run updates that are needed at particular times that don't coincide with the available intervals such as rollover/end of day. This would make database-driven websites easier to keep current.
