Unable to get data from Ecowitt HP2551

I have just built a new system on a spare Raspberry Pi to test out a newly acquired Ecowitt HP2551 which I will eventually use to replace my ancient Fine Offset system. I can start up the new CumulusMX management console, add the Ecowitt api and application keys and configure CumulusMX to use the Ecowitt Local API settings. It performs an auto discovery so it does recognise the HP2551. Unfortunately I’m not getting any data from the 2551 displaying on the CumulusMX console.

Data is being uploaded from the 2551 to the Ecowitt website and the 2551 is logging data.

I’ve attached my current MXdaigs file.

Looking forward to getting this sorted!

HP2551 does not support local api, so you have to setup it as HTTP Ecowitt, and configure a custom server to send the data to CMX on the console.

Is that the same for the GW1103 ? I thought they were both the same and used the local api? But perhaps I’m mistaken.

I’ve set it as Ecowitt (HTTP) and it’s now displaying data on the CMX console. Will let it run for a while and see how it goes.

GW1103 (GW1100) does have the local api, but most of the display consoles do not have it. Actually only WN19x0 consoles do have the local api. (Source: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0 )

Of course you could add a GW1100 to your setup to receive the same data and connect it to CMX just like I did (cost less than 40 euros). It gives you the api and generally more possibilities if you want to run more than one instance of CMX.

That’s worth knowing. Thanks!
