Moon Rises time not showing

Hi,

I'm one of the many that have had a PWS for Xmas. I think my wife is already regretting the purchase!! I have the affordable WH1081 which I would liken to the ZX Spectrum or Amstrad PC as having brought in technology which the average person might afford.... so far I am impressed with it and very impressed with Steve’s baby – Cumulus.

A very minor issue/question I’ve noticed that there is no moon rise time today (I’m using version 1.8.9 build 887) it should be approx 23:00hrs I think, has anyone else noticed?

A question for Steve – I have asked to be added to your user map about a week or so ago and it’s not showing, do I need to wait or resubmit – again a very minor question.

I am a newbie so I apologise if I have violated any rules regarding posting but I’m sure I will learn.

Happy New Year

Neil

Don't think so - but it depends on where you are. Moon rises about 0015 tomorrow morning in London, 0045 in Glasgow, etc.

I suspect the email got lost (a few do). Could I ask you to resubmit, please?

No rules -- free for all here, common sense prevails

lb has already replied -- you know, I did not know that about the moon! :D

The disk is now 59% illuminated (Waning).
Next new Moon on 15 January at 07:12.

Not always; sometimes it is dashed to the ground, wounded and bleeding, by a tide of overwhelming unfathomableness ;)
(I'm not referring to this thread, I hasten to add)

As soon as I pressed enter to submit my question I thought - I bet it's because it is the previous day…. Doh! I searched the forum to check if the subject had been raised but didn’t think to check FAQ’s!!

Thanks to Ib, Dave and Steve for replying so quickly.

Two good things come from this 1. I have broken the ice with the forum and 2. I have now updated my profile and resubmitted my request to be added to the map.

My wife thinks I’m in my office working…. little does she know tee hee

Your request to be added to the maps was received this morning (about an hour ago) and just added. I checked back and didn't see any request from you using that same email address. Santa most likely took it.

Or the one I use as an amateur astronomer...

Clicking on the Ephemeris tab will give you all the data you need rise, set, elevation, etc. :)

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the prompt action. Re Santa - He obviously chose to ignore my presents list as I didn't find a Ferrari in my stocking.

Yes a very useful program for the moon, but part of the reason I use sellerium is it shows all the sky and can also control the scope (16" Meade LX200), or tell you where you are if controlling it manually. All we need are some clear good seeing nights.

Is envious of your 16" scope Keith; I did design a 14.5" Dobsonian scope for our local Astro club many, many years ago but it wasn't controlled like your Mead. You can do some serious photography with that. :)

I use Winstars sometimes as well but I do like using the Will Tiron books and maps.
