3rd party upload indicator

Post by gard72 »

Hello,

Cumulus1 had a very informative feature that would indicate when an upload to a 3rd party was being invoked. Along the lower edge of the Cumulus1 dashboard was a framed area that would momentarily display, for example, 'Updating PWS' or 'Updating APRS'.

I found this to be quite helpful and re-assuring, that regular interval data was actually being transmitted.

It seems a feature like this would be a nice addition to CumulusMX, perhaps in the 'alarms' section, changing an indicator from green to red during packet transmission.

I certainly hope this request isn't a duplicate. I searched the list and believe I found nothing similar.

Thanks for considering.

Whilst this isn't currently possible, you can set an alarm to trigger if the uploads start failing.

It WORKS!!!

Thanks Mark for making this '3rd party upload' change.

I forced a deliberate 'failure test' by changing my PWS login ID to a bogus name. The alarm light came up immediately after the upload attempt.

And now that I give this issue more thought, this is a more logical solution than the upload notification method used in Cumulus1. After all, it's easier seeing when an upload fails than it is tracking every upload success.

In addition, I received an email of the upload error and the reason for failure!

Kudos
