Cumulus won't find Ventage Vue

Post by jkinzel »

Cumulus ver. 1.8.8 or ver. 1.8.9 refuses to find my Vantage Vue. I choose Vantage Pro 2 as my station and get the "Error 32701" message. When I choose "Find Offset" it puts the sun/moon information on the top of the page, but no weather data is loaded.

So taking the advice of others, I removed the program using control panel and reinstalled it, but I noticed the sun/moon info is still at the top of the page telling me that not all was removed.

Where is the file/folder that contains the lat, long, sun/moon information so that I can delete it and start from scratch?

Any other suggestions to get Cumulus to acknowledge my Vantage Vue?

Which folder did you install Cumulus into?

Have you installed the Davis 'virtual serial port' driver? The USB support in the Davis DLL that Cumulus uses appears to be broken, so you will need to drive it via a virtual serial port.

Hi Steve,

Program Files (x86) I looked for anything that might be related, but found nothing. I'm using the USB Data logger, forgot to mention that.

I have not installed the vitual serial port driver. I assume I would find that on Davis's web site. I'm using WeatherLink 5.9.0 so Im not sure what driver to look for

In that case your data is in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Cumulus. It's recommended (to avoid this) that you don't install to Program Files on Vista and Windows 7.

It's the "CP210X USB to Serial Converter" on this page - http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather ... driver.asp

Thank you Steve, I got it going. I was away from the computer for several hours and just got the time to get it cleaned up and running.
As per your advice, I put the program in it's own folder to avoid the problems I had to correct.
Now all I need is some weather. It has been flat calm here for several days, dark drizzly and just plain boring, although we did get an inch/2.54cm of rain yesterday.

Yes, consider it done. I got so hung up trying to get Cumulus to work, I forgot my manners.

"Fox Island, Washington State" - sounds great. I have a sort of list of places around the world where I think I might like to live, and in the US, it's Washington State.

Steve,
Yes, western Washington State is a wonderful place to live weather wise, but even a born and raised native like myself really starts wanting some sun by March. We have been thinking of a move to the SW United States, but right now it's just talk.

The biggest motivator for the move is state politics, they just come up with some of the most amazing things. I have got to stop watching the news. :? :o  :x
