Yes, that had been suggested after the proposal had gone online. And to prevent 'Trumplike' actions with the poll, the system does not allow a poll to be changed while running. So this is it.

Having that choice (using both) also would have made the result of the poll much less clear. As in your case you actually use CMX (even twice) and I actually don't see what a backup version of C1 adds.

But anyway, having said the above: the poll is as it is, we can't change it. Users should vote the most forward situation for them (so if running a CMX version and 10 C1 versions, you vote CMX because you did the migration already).

"Cumulus 1, going to migrate to CumulusMX" - I can see that my voice is the only one here :D

I am currently using C1 and CMX (as I have it signed in the footer). I will make the decision to migrate from C1 when the announced CMX4 appears.

First of all, let it be clear that this text is translated from Spanish automatically, due to my regrettable lack of knowledge of English.
Hello and greetings to all.
I am a Cumulus 1 user for more than 12 years, I also use MX.
I use Cumulus to manage a Davis Pro2 station, and at the same time I read the same data with an instance of MX. A second instance is reading data from a GW1000 with a WS80 Ecowitt.
I'm too lazy to transfer the web page to MX, that's why I don't finish moving everything.
I also use MX with a GW1100 to read 8 temperature sensors and control several freezers. Too bad they don't graph the extra sensors.

Thank you very much for all the work you do. Worthy successors of Steve.

Regards.

@ubik:
Two remarks:
  1. I hope you voted CMX because you already made the transition;
  2. Plotting the Extra sensors can be done with CumulusUtils though if your English is bad you may have some difficulty reading the wiki and configure it.

@ubik:
a) you are using the best translation software available these days ;) - deepl.com
b) as @HansR mentioned - CUtils/CumulusUtils is a website creation tool which can also depict extra sensors
c) have a look at http://meshka.eu/CUtils (and look up Extra from the menu)
if you are interested in it and the setup, I could be of assistance also in Spanish - - just send me a Personal Message.

I'm just composing a sort of cookbook to get all Ecowitt extra sensors displayed by CUtils.
Of course the dashboard display can also be made working in Spanish language by the help of a language file.
And it can be fine tuned to display a lot of other sensors/data/graphs, but for this some more effort needs to be invested.

After 27 days I dare to give an estimate for results to be expected: A total of a 140 votes with 90% running CMX with some going to use it and less than 10% and decreasing using C1. Based on the figure below which depicts a kind of beta distribution on the total voters.

The number of people actually visiting the forum and voting is not high, maybe @freddie can give a better estimate of the number of unique visitors on the forum (staying for some time and actually reading something) and the wiki to get the fraction which actually votes.

Maybe the number of downloads of the software (for several releases) is also known.
From that we could have a better estimator of the total number of users and what they run.

    I have the downloads of CMX for each release that GitHub provides, but not for Cumulus 1, and of course most people running C1 will already have a copy of the installer.

    That would definitely be an interesting figure for the CMX extrapolation.
    And I understand the lack of info for C1 (But that maybe leads to a conclusion in itself ;) ) . Maybe the downloads of that 2030 patch says something?

    It is a good and interesting poll, but I don't think a full expression of the number of people using v1 or CMX or both.
    beteljuice tried to get a current Cumulus user list by his "Unofficial Users Map" but unfortunately not too many took the bait and now that is no longer.

    The visitors to the forum and then this thread is likely highly biased to CMX users. CMX users are more active due to now also includes the Ecowitt, Pi, and ongoing development. C1-only users are likely happy with what they have and don't visit too often. But I am still impressed on the questions by C1 users and most often it is their only or more recent post (and visit).

    To show the visitor interest on CMX, the zip download data in the past 90 days :
    b3215 597 downloads in 8 days
    b3214 677 downloads in 17 days
    b3213 980 downloads in 19 days
    b3211 634 downloads in 8 days
    b3206 738 downloads in 14 days
    b3205 1016 downloads in 19 days
    b3204 274 downloads in 2 days
    b3203 432 downloads in 4 days
    It is interesting to watch when a new release is announced and how quickly the downloads occur.
    Possibly a number of downloads are just to have the current version rather than also doing an update.

    The count for Mark's first b3044 is not available (likely due to volunteer beta testing) but from b3045 dated 2018-12-24 with 26 downloads and b3046 dated 2019-01-02 with 1288 downloads, and b3047 a month later at 1147 downloads, I would expect a lot of C1 and CMX-beta users were keen on the new features and platform.

    There was a time when WU had a list of the number of users for the various software uploads to them (user specified) and from my memory that Cumulus number was just somewhere under 1,000 and very much in line with the other 2 or 3 primary weather programs at the time.

    p.s. I have CMX b3000 to b3044... and v1 2013/07/13 to latest if anyone wants :lol:

    Enjoy,
    Paul
