Ah yes, sheep (aka The Highland clearances!) have a lot to answer for!

In doing my research for my family tree I found so many left for America/Canada/Australia. I am amazed there is anyone left here really

When the Ockers come to NZ we have to lock up the sheep to avoid them getting molested :-)
That sounds wrong....maybe it's the sheep molesting the Ockers.
Whatever.

Wait until summer for us and I'll bet we can rival your temps with ease ... :D Right now 22.2 is our daytime high in the dead of winter....not so bad, eh?

Very nice!!

Its not so much that this is an extreme heatwave, last year we had 13 days above 35 in a row, 7 of which were above 40 in a row peaking at 46 (I think that's correct, I didn't have a weather station then ;)) which resulted in the catastrophic bushfires in Victoria. What I find curious is that we're getting more heatwaves each year and last year we had one in Novemeber for the first time ever. (BTW a heatwave here is defined as 5 days above 35 or 3 days above 40)

I know there's debate about whether global warming exists, but we certainly seem to be breaking a lot of records lately on both sides of the globe. This is the main reason I got my weather station and have taken such an interest in the weather.

It seems that some places are much warmer than normal and others not. As example, our midwest area is receiving the worst winter cold and snow (from Canada) in over 10 years...with wind-chills down to -43C and even a bit below.

It'd take someone better acquainted with the weather than me to hazard a guess as to what's going on. Frankly, I've never believed in this global warming stuff...I think the planet goes through these changes regularly in the scheme of things but who knows? If it becomes an ICE AGE, I'll consider moving to New Zealand 8-)

yeah, I'm still undecided too, but as someone once said - If there was no such thing as global warming we'd still be in an ice age. :)

Regardless of my beliefs I've still decided to err on the side of caution and start doing things to reduce my carbon foot print, just in case. ;)
