What's CumulusMX doing?

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

What's CumulusMX doing?

Post by Altocumulus »

See attachment.

Cumulus MX server is run on one PC (weather) connected to the console. v3.20.1 build 3203

A second PC runs the web interface...

Browsing my router I noticed a high bandwidth under the weather PC.

Looking at the Network diagnostics on the PC I noticed the high figure as seen on the attached printscreen of the PCs data usage. Is this right?

Seems a very high. It's risen by a further 400mb in the 10 minutes since the screenprint and me typing this.

I think you'll need to turn on debug and data logging in program settings.. let it run for a short while, then post the files zipped up to here.

For comparison, my CMX has 13.9GB in the last 30 days.

Where do the log files go?

I had data and ftp logging switched on, but can't find any file for data.
ftp logging is in the main CumulusMX folder.

Host PC is running Win10, the web interface on Win11.

The data logging will be added to the diagnostics files in the MXDiags folder.

Data usage measures data that has been read or sent over network. It does not count how much is written on disk.

Large amounts of network usage could be expected, if cumulus is set to use short intervals either on realtime updates or normal website update in general. If you have a short logging interval and have long graph time shown, that also can add quite a bit of data to website uploads.
