How do I correct month rain and year rain easily

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

But doing that way means your days may not add up to the month/year totals.

CMX just uses the days, and adds those up to derive month/year (plus any current day rainfall). So get your days right and everything else falls into place.

The year correction is used if you start using CMX part way through the year, or have missing days for other reasons (station failure for instance)

OK so I have now created some code which extracts the total rain each day from the monthly log files which is where the rain totals agree with what the gateway has recorded and now I'm comparing the day file data to these end of day totals from the monthly log files.

Now I am finding some days where there is no rain in the day file but there is in the monthly logs but I have also found that on at least one day so far the day file has greater rain for the day than recorded in the monthly log file. Now I do not believe that all of these errors are my fault from incorrect manipulation of the totals. Now the error where the rain is greater in the day file it was raining over midnight but the total for the following day agrees with what the month log shows.

Also as I run WD concurrently I can see the figures for these days in WD agree with the CMX month log so in my view the day file is wrong but how and I definitely did not manipulate the day file at this time?

All of this is beginning to get quite complicated :groan:

Just put the WD daily figures in the dayfile (using the dayfile editor: Data logs -> Dayfile) for now. If you get a discrepancy in the future then start another topic and attach your MXdiags logs and we can work out what is going on.
