wll monthly summery data not correct

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

wll monthly summery data not correct

Post by bellmike »

HI I have just bought a new DVP2 and uploading to weatherlink.com and also cumulusmx with wll. I have had it running for a couple of months and all is fine except in the monthly summery min temp below 17.7c it is showing no days below this when we have clearly had temperatures below that. also with the number of days of rainfall above .2 mill and above 2mill are also not correct. Just new to posting in forums and was wondering if anybody could help
cheers Mike

So only one day of rain, the 26th, with 6.6mm.
And both >=0.2, and >=2.0 have a count of 1.

Max Rain: 44.8 on day 2
Days of Rain: 3 (>= 0.2 mm)  2 (>= 2.0 mm)  1 (>= 20.0 mm)
Three days with rain, 1,2,3 with 0.6, 44.8 and 13.2
The corresponding threshold counts match those values.

I'm not sure what you mean by days < 17.7 C, you have no threshold of that value. You have the default >= 27.0 and there are no days greater than that value.

Hi Mark
I put up and connected my new station on July 13. I have a full months of data in August but I cant see the full month of August in the cumulus data logs it starts at the 23/8.
in the month of September I am showing so far 4 days of rain above 2 mills when it is only showing 3
also in wll it is showing the threshold of min temp below 17.7 but in cumulus it shows below 18 and there are days 4,5 below that threshold

Hi Mike,

In CMX you have your daily rollover occurring at 9am whereas I believe the Davis Weatherlink site uses a midnight rollover. Your rainfall records are never going to match with differing rollover times.

The minimum temp thresholds are negative numbers so temp has to drop below -17.7 to register in WLL and -18 to register in CMX.

Trevor

Hi Trevor
I actually went to spec savers last week and my new glasses will be here in a couple of weeks not before time thanks for solving that problem
I don't know how they set the thresholds it must be based on the amount of users around the world
now all I have to do is find out why all the data from the month of august has not shown up in cumulusmx it starts at day23-30
I understand what you are saying about the difference in days mx been 9am and wll 12am
If you have a look at my previous post with screenshot of September you can see I have 4 days of rain above 2mill and it is only showing 3
appreciate your help Mike

Hi Mike,

I don't know how Davis set their thresholds either but there's lots of places around the world that would see sub -18 degrees. You're just never going to see anything like that in tropical North Queensland. I suggest you set more meaningful thresholds in CMX. You will find them under Settings > NOAA Settings. If you do change these you will need to regenerate your NOAA reports to see the new thresholds take effect. Given the amount of rainfall in your area I would also change the Rain Thresholds as an upper threshold of 20mm is almost a daily event for you six months of the year!

I gather you are referring to the WLL Monthly Summary when you refer to having 4 days above 2mm but it only shows 3 as the NOAA reports are completely accurate as Mark has already stated. I checked a couple of my monthly summaries and they don't actually agree either. Anything with 0.2mm isn't counted even though the threshold says greater than or equal to 0.2mm and the 2mm threshold isn't correct either. To be honest, I only ever look at the threshold numbers in the CMX NOAA reports.

As far as not seeing the whole month of August, when did you actually start using CMX? If you are only seeing from 23rd August then I would think your Dayfile only starts then. What date and time does your Aug22log.txt file start at?

Regards,
Trevor

Hi Mike,
I think you have the WL.com pro account so you can use the CumulusMX catch up on a CMX restart. If you have WL.com data from before August 23rd then possibly you can get CumulusMX to do a catch up from your WL.com start-up date. Not 100% sure on this but worth a try.
First, in Settings > Station settings > Advanced Settings enter the date of your initial WL.com data, Save, and stop CumulusMX. The new start date will now be in the Cumulus.ini file.
Backup your \CumulusMX\data folder for just in case!
Remove everything from \CumulusMX\data (you have that \data Backup in case something goes wrong).
Restart CumulusMX and hopefully it will download all available data from WL.com (fingers/crossed).

If any issue, then with Cumulus stopped, just paste in all the files from that Backup into your \CumulusMX\data and restart.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Trevor
I had a look at the August log txt file and it starts on the 23 and goes through to the 1-9-22 to 8.30am
the September log txt file goes from 1/9/ ( 12.30 am) through to the 14/9
I had a look in my wll data and it starts on the 14/7 when I set the station up. i t5hink you may be right and just follow the cmxs monthly summaries
I just have to get the data correct now
cheers Mike
