Unexpected CumulusMX Crash

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Unexpected CumulusMX Crash

Post by NeilThomas »

Hi

Due to unrelated issues, I installed a new install of CumulusMX yesterday and came down this morning to a black screen full of error messages. I have attached the MXDiags zip to this forum.
MXdiags-error 25th.zip
I have looked at the log and it appears to be something to do with the Realtime FTP connection.

Neil.

Hi Neil, it does not look like CMX crashed, it carried on working apart from the realtime FTP process failed.

The console log does not contain any errors, can you post what you saw in the screen?

The errors seem to start immediately after you edited the internet settings...

Code: Select all

2022-08-24 23:58:10.905 RealtimeReconnect: Realtime FTP operations will be restarted
What did you change during that settings update? It will help me pin-point the issue.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the quick response. I suspect that I left a settings page half completed that may have caused the issue. I have now found a backup of all my previous data so am in the process of restoring data from 2014 on and setting my CumulusMX ini file manually.

I cannot show you the screen - I hit enter before taking a copy :bash: I will keep you posted.

Neil

It still shouldn't have started generating those errors though, so there is something needing a fix in there.

Can I just remove all FTP from CMX? Life would be so much easier!

Agreed - FTP has always caused more issues when I try to FTP my own stuff. Why can't it just work? :groan:
