CWOP Lat Lon Setup

Post by Mattuk2021 »

Hi, i know this may have been resolved before on this forum. I am having issues with setting up my latitude ,longitude within cumulus MX for CWOP GW2264

My latitude is 50.755154 N
Longitude -3.047366 W

I have broken it down to Lat 50 45 18 or 19 Long 3.2.50 or 51 and put this into cumulus but it reverts it to lots of 00's and 2's and throws my exact location way out for my station. On findu.com it's currently showing up as 50.755 -3.04737 which is wrong and showing by around 100 feet south east.

Latitude=50.755000000000003
Longitude=-3.0472222222222221
LatTxt=N 50° 45' 18"
LonTxt=W 03° 02' 50"
Altitude=13

I have looked at the GPS coordinates via latlong.net, and the issue is with the seconds N 50 45 18.5544. W 3 2 50.5176

How do enter this into cumulusMX so that it reports my location correctly to CWOP. I have tried inputting 18.5544 seconds into cumulus via browser but it maxes out at 59.

I am at a loss.

Matt.

You can enter the decimal value into either the configuration wizard, or stop CMX, and edit the values directly in the Cumulus.ini file.

The Station configuration only allows the location to be entered to the nearest second of arc.

I was thinking of changing the lat/log values to decimals internally, to avoid some rounding errors, I may do that soon.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your reply, I have this morning updated the Lat /long values via the config.ini. shall i go ahead delete the the text version?
will that still send GPS co-ordinates to CWOP?

Matt.

The text values are only used for display purposes. I'd change them to match what you want.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for getting back to me..

I think I can see where I am going wrong. I have been trying to convert the decimal degrees into (DD:MM:SS.SS) for exact Location rather than (DD:MM:SS) which is an approximate.

Thank you for your help Mark much appreciated.
