From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Switching Weather Stations, Retain Historical Records etc.

Post by grwkak »

I recently purchased a Tempest weather station with the intent of "retiring" my Vantage Vue after about 10 years of use. I have the 2 stations set up in the back garden/yard about 8 feet apart so I can gauge how differently they read. I would like to set-up my Tempest on my dedicated weather PC but retain all the legacy data (records etc.).

What I have done so far is create a fresh CMX install on my laptop for the Tempest then copy across the files from the weather PC data folder (bar the current months' data as I started recording August 1st). This seemed to do the trick with legacy data. One file I am unclear on and did not copy across is CumulusMX.db. I am not sure if I should copy this from the other PC.

My intent - now I am happy with the configuration etc. is to backup my Vantage Vue directory and copy the new install over to my weather PC and run from there.

Does this make sense - and what should I do with the db file? There are some other tweaks needed but seems I am close.

You do not need that file, CMX creates it on the fly from your log files if necessary. It only contains recent data for doing some calculations and graph plotting.
