Hi,
There may be other ways but I also have a shortcut on my desktop, and the localhost:8998 URL on my browser. I do also use Start Watch and have included CumulusMX shortcut in that so CumulusMX runs all the time, and restarts automatically if it or the computer was stopped. So just a click to view the dashboard, etc.

Which Cumulus App are you trying?

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul
Thanks for the info i will check out start watch and give it a go. we have some good showers coming in this weekend so will be good to read my rain totals in the 9am to 9am readings
The name of the app is " cumulus Realtime meteo monitor in the google play apps for android . I have had a look at the settings and functions of cumulus and have updated the year to date rain in the settings. but looks like there is no function to add previous years rain records
Thanks again Mike

Hi Mike,
Here is Start Watch link http://www.softwx.com/windows/startwatch.html
The author is no longer active but he did allow it to continue to be available.
i also have downloaded the cumulus app for android and when i try to add the station with information it is not working
Thanks for the app info, I've installed it and it worked immediately after I entered my realtime.txt file url.

I found your station on WL.com and quite some rain you get https://www.weatherlink.com/bulletin/0a ... 5bd9b90983
but looks like there is no function to add previous years rain records
What information/records do you want to add?

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul
can you tell me what the Realtime txt file is and url. so i can activate the app
Thanks for the link to the start watch i will have a look at it now
we are in the wettest place in Australia there are a couple of towns close by that will claim that but because we are not classed as a town as such we don't get a mention. we live right at the base of MT Bellenden Ker the second highest mountain in Queensland our state. there is a communications tower at the top of it and the government keep data from the top station and the bottom station. the all time record for the bottom station is close to 7 metres and 12metres for the top station in the same year. our average here is 4.5 metres we are below average for this month but the rain coming this weekend will fix that up. we are on track for the year average. they have forecast another la Nina for this spring and summer so increased rainfall and cyclones
i was just hoping to be able to add my yearly totals into cumulus i have records that go back to 1973 some from the governments records and the rest from my own records. I was able to do that with my old weather link computer software but not on wll. I
did have a look for your station just going off the information here .you live in a small town like myself and the country side there looks amazing .i am guessing people there would be into fishing

Hi Mike,
can you tell me what the Realtime txt file is and url. so i can activate the app
realtime.txt is the file created by Cumulus and is in your C:\CumulusMX folder. It updates at the realtime interval that you set in
Internet Settings > Interval Configuration > Realtime Interval Settings
You will need to have a remote site (website) for it to be FTP so that the App can access it.
Mine is at 10 second interval at http://www.komokaweather.com/cumulusmxwll/realtime.txt
You can put that URL in your App and see how the station data would display.

Cumulus does have a utility to convert WeatherlinkPC data (.wlk files) to Cumulus format
viewtopic.php?t=11349
https://cumuluswiki.org/a/File:WLconverter.zip
I have not used it as I have been running Cumulus nearly as long as I have WeatherlinkPC (since 2009) so can't share any experience with the utility.

You can import WeatherlinkPC data (.wlk) to Weatherlink.com but you would need the WL.com Pro paid subscription for that. And that would not allow you to get that data in CumulusMX.
we are in the wettest place in Australia there are a couple of towns close by that will claim that but because we are not classed as a town as such we don't get a mention. we live right at the base of MT Bellenden Ker the second highest mountain in Queensland our state.
Our son married a girl from Parkes, NSW and we visited for the wedding in Sydney in June 2005. They now live in Brisbane and we often hear of heavy rain there. I know you are way north of that, and think our daughter and her husband visited near your area that year as well. They took a scenic train and had a video showing the huge waterfalls, etc. (and crocodile farm).
you live in a small town like myself and the country side there looks amazing .i am guessing people there would be into fishing
Komoka is a small village in the County of Middlesex by the Thames River, just on the outskirts of London, ON and about 500,000 population in the London/Middlesex area. Pretty well farming area along with industry related to technology and automotive. Fishing is a hobby for some, but there is a fishing industry from the several ports on Lake Erie, one of the two Great Lakes near us.

Enjoy,
Paul

The best thing to do is to search the forum for similar questions first. Then I would perform a similar search on the Cumulus Wiki. If neither of those methods return anything useful, or you don't understand or need further clarification of something, then you should start a new topic in the appropriate sub forum. Try to choose the sub forum that best matches your question.

Good luck with setting up your station - it is a great learning experience.

I suggest you have a browse of the Wiki too, there is lots of good information in there, though it can be a bit hard to find at times.

Cumulus MX can be installed as a system service so it runs totally in background and starts automatically with your system.

Can I butt in? My CumulusMX/Utils system is working fine now (mostly), but problem with getting data to Weatherlink. I have a VP2 connected via USB to a RPi 400. I also have an Airlink. Airlink data shows up on Weatherlink, but not weather data (although it is on CumulusMx and my website (Muntyweather.org)). I think it is a setup problem; have tried Davis but not very helpful. :?

It's best to start a new topic when you have a specific question, but as you're here....

Could you please zip up the files found in the MXdiags folder of your MX installation and attach the zip file to a reply to this topic? We can then look at what is happening while you are running MX and start diagnosing what is wrong.

@MuntyWeather,
To upload to waetherlink.com you need either an IP logger or with a USB logger need to run Weatherlink PC. But with a USB logger you cannot run Weatherlink PC and Cumulus at the same time.
AirLink is a device that does upload to Weatherlink.com independent of any other device.

Weatherlink Live is a logger that does upload to Weatherlink.com and to also use with CumulusMX.

Enjoy,

There's a few of your dayfile.txt entries that need corrections:

Code: Select all

2022-09-05 17:15:10.217 LoadDayFile: Error at line 8 of data/dayfile.txt : Error at record 6 = "22:/07:10" - Input string was not in a correct format.
2022-09-05 17:15:10.217 Please edit the file to correct the error
2022-09-05 17:15:10.796 ParseDayFileRec: Error at record 46 - Input string was not in a correct format.
2022-09-05 17:15:10.796 LoadDayFile: Error at line 1958 of data/dayfile.txt : Error at record 46 = "10.00" - Input string was not in a correct format.
2022-09-05 17:15:10.797 Please edit the file to correct the error
Have you done your setup on the weatherlink.com web site? This message logged:

Code: Select all

2022-09-05 17:15:15.161 AirLinkHealth: WeatherLink API Error: 404, Unable to find weather station settings
... suggests that you haven't (but I could be wrong as I'm not well versed with weatherlink.com).

You will have to wait for @PaulMy or similar to wade in with weatherlink.com specifics, I'm afraid.

How are you uploading to Weatherlink.com?
What is the URL to your Weatherlink.com Bulletin?

Tks for replies. Herewith bulletin link. There isn't an option for WL in 'third party uploads' in CMX. Perhaps it's not supported?
