Thinking of Removing Twitter Support from CMX

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Since the change in ownership, twitter has become a cesspool, so I would say remove it and save some grief.

Since CMX and twitter have been broken for some time, I moved my twitter feeding to my meteobridge NANO, though I has previously used a linux cli method to post weather data saved to a file from CMX.

there are plenty of ways to post to twitter without CMX

My last post was in reference to Twitter's lastest announcement. The free API ends on the 9th, so all third-party sites that use it, will no longer be able to unless they pay.

Twitter will provide a free write-only API to bots providing ‘good’ content

Meteobridge hopefully is one of those bits providing good content.

This appears to have happened now. My last successful tweet was at midnight at the start of 29/04/2023. I have only just noticed

Yep they've probably changed to using the bot API whereas I haven't.
