Strange data problem moving from one machine to another

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Strange data problem moving from one machine to another

Post by boss281 »

I have been running the latest Cumulus MX on a spare Windows 10 laptop successfully for quite a while. Since it's a decent machine, I wanted to repurpose it and put Cumulus MX on an older Windows 10 machine. I copied the installation directory to the other machine, couldn't get it to work, so I gave up and restarted it on the original machine. This was about 130pm Eastern time.

I push out to Windy, CWOP, PWS Weather and Weather Underground. The first two seemed fine after restarting on the original machine but PWS Weather stopped reporting wind GUSTS around at 3pm and didn't resume until about 9pm (see https://www.pwsweather.com/station/pws/JORDRETRT ). Weather Underground appears to be working fine but is no longer updating it's graph data since 2:09pm although the console is showing it collecting real time data (see https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDNEWWI3 ).

I remembered that the Cumulus browser console has debug settings so I turned them both on for a while but don't have a clue what to look for. My search of the wiki appeared to show help for Cumulus 1.0, not MX.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

you probably have PWS Weather and Weather Underground set to "catch up" and your PC was sending the missing data back to them from you original PC when it restarted again. depending on how long the PC was off depends on how much data needed to be sent back to these two websites before you started seeing fresh data.

when you turn on debugging, run it for 10-15 minutes then turn it off. stop cumulusmx and then restart. in the MXDIAGS folder you will then see a load of log files. since you restarted there will be a new logfile. then go select the logfile before the latest and post it here.

Will do a bit later. PWSWeather is operating normally but WU is not showing any graph data at all at this point. It may be a WU problem but I'll post the diag files when I get home mid afternoon anyhow. Too bad since we're going to have a heck of a front coming through central Maryland about 1-3pm today.

PWSWeather is operating normally but WU is not showing any graph data at all at this point. It may be a WU
It is a WU issue as others are experiencing the same issue on the graphs, and now also on the table view.

Enjoy,
Paul

This appears to be a coincidental downtime at WU when I transferred the Cumulus MX directory to another machine. I assumed cause and effect.
Sorry for the trouble. WU is now reporting tabular and graph data once again...
