Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
You don't seem to have the 'realtime' option selected (or it's not working) so you have no realtime.txt file, which the realtime gauges require.

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
i have realtime enabled in internet settings every 60 seconds.
do i need to upload the text file you mentioned?
do i use the files page and then browse for it (would have uploaded it already if it was standard?)

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
Enabling realtime should be all you need; it causes the realtime.txt to be uploaded. But http://users6.jabry.com/maidenerleghwea ... altime.txt gives a 404. If you turn on ftp logging, the realtimeftplog.txt file may give some clues.

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
Looks OK; the transfer is clearly working. It's either not putting it in the correct place, or it's the usual problem with free hosting where anything but serving straight html pages is not supported.
What - exactly - have you got for 'directory' in the internet settings?

I assume you don't mean an actually space character, but an empty field?muppet77 wrote:a blank space, Steve
It may be that they do not allow txt files -- you would need to ask them.
Interestingly, I was having a look at the terms and condition of the free hosting site and it specifically says it will not add adverts to your site...
"No ads, No pop-up, No banner. We will not place any ads on your site."
However it seems to insert an 'advert' at the end of every page, after the html tag has been closed too - tut tut

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
I'm stumped then; you seem to be doing everything right. I think it must be that the free hosting doesn't allow files with a .txt extension to be served. You could perhaps log in with an ftp client and confirm that the realtime.txt file really is there, in the same place as gauges.htm?

I can't see why it would object to .txt files:

The FTP client idea sounds a good idea to me.Which file types are not allowed?
Files with the following extensions are not supported on our servers: .exe, .cmd, .bat, .dll, and .scr. These files will automatically and without notice be removed if they are found in your user space.

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
I signed up for a jabry account, manually upload my realtime.txt file and http://users6.jabry.com/cumulus/realtime.txt gives a 404, so that's pretty conclusive that they don't support .txt files.

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
Are you chaps aware that jabry pages throw up a Web of Trust (WOT) red warning box which may put of a lot of people visiting your WX sites.steve wrote:I signed up for a jabry account, manually upload my realtime.txt file and http://users6.jabry.com/cumulus/realtime.txt gives a 404, so that's pretty conclusive that they don't support .txt files.
WOT is getting more and more used these days as there is an IE version now as well as the Firefox one.
Probably due to someone using it to distribute nasties or spam in the past. There are probably better host sites.

Re: real time wind gauge dates not working?
David and I only signed up as a test; I (and David too, I would guess) have no intention of actually using jabry. And WOT itself looks dodgy to me. But I definitely agree withRepairman77 wrote:Are you chaps aware that jabry pages throw up a Web of Trust (WOT) red warning box which may put of a lot of people visiting your WX sites.steve wrote:I signed up for a jabry account, manually upload my realtime.txt file and http://users6.jabry.com/cumulus/realtime.txt gives a 404, so that's pretty conclusive that they don't support .txt files.
