WOW update: The operation was canceled

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

WOW update: The operation was canceled

Post by freddie »

I'm seeing a lot of these messages in MXDiags. Does this indicate a problem at my end or at the WOW end? I only noticed because today was a rare occasion when I looked at my data in WOW and noticed it has been missing since approx. 2200 UTC yesterday.

I see a few of these errors most days

Response: ERROR - Response code = ServiceUnavailable, body = The service is unavailable.

Probably not your end.

Afaics it is usually at the WOW end. As if they don't have the capacity to handle a lot of requests (for catching e.g.)

Hmm, it may well have been my end. I had a couple of short-lived outages to my Internet service yesterday evening, and when the service resumed I noticed that IPv6 functionality was not working. I use a dual-stack network and the preference is for IPv6, so the DNS request for WOW by MX was likely for a AAAA record - which would have timed out, probably a longer TTL than MX waited for. Anyway, IPv6 functionality resumed at 09:53 UTC and the 10:00 WOW request worked, whereas the 09:50 request returned "The operation was canceled" (sic) error message.

So it's either been fixed by this or it is a mighty coincidence :D
