Mx Diag error

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Mx Diag error

Post by Box »

Hello

I seem to be generating huge MX Diag files filled with the following error

2022-03-01 20:40:00.081 BackupData: Error while attempting to read/delete folder: backup\daily\20211230000000, error message: Access to the path 'backup\daily\20211230000000' is denied.

This error message is repeated umpteen times a second and every ten minutes a new 760 Mb Mxdiag txt file is generated

Strange thing is the folder "backup\daily\20211230000000" is there but its empty, is that the problem? Is the program trying to access/delete non-existent files?

Not sure what the daily files are for but everything else seems to be operating normally

Should I worry? What can I do to stop it?

That location is where your data files would've been backed up on 30/12/2021. Something on your computer has that location locked so Cumulus couldn't access it to save the data files to it. The error messages have probably been happening since 30th December. Here's what I would do: stop Cumulus and try to delete the locked folder. If you can't then reboot and (after checking Cumulus isn't running) try to delete the folder again. If you still can't delete then something still has it locked - and I would Google what to do about deleting it.

Thanks for the quick reply, not sure what has locked that folder, nothing else seems to be running

I used process explorer and lockhunter but couldnt find out what had locked it

So I stopped CMX, deleted the folder and restarted CMX

CMX hung at the working directory stage and went no further

Then i rebooted, CMX started as normal and then hung again

I was using 3160

So I installed CMX (3169) to c:\cumulusmx and copied the data folder and cumulus.ini from my previous install

Restarted all is well

Thanks to both of you for the help

Hello I have the same problem, the CumulusMX/backup folder contains 10 files with backups and 1 daily backup of the last 2 days.
I am using an RPI4B with a 128gb ssd stick.

Code: Select all

2022-03-04 13:26:51.786 BackupData: Error while attempting to read/delete folder: backup/20220303170720, error message: Could not find a part of the path '/home/pi/CumulusMX/backup/20220303170720

It looks like the program you are using to view the folder cannot open it either?

Did you ever figure out a root cause for this? I'm experiencing the same exact thing.
