Adding CloudBase charts stop other chaarts functioning correctly

Post by AndyKF650 »

Hi Hans

Thanks for that, but I have done it a different way and amended the CUstringsEN.ini file at the line which describes the legend line 315, changed from dimentionless to Height above Sealevel in feet. This works for me.

Whilst doing this research I noticed the compileonly stops column charts working with multiple lines but running website sorts them out.

This is exactly what I mean. CUstringsEN.ini is the language file for you. Would you have chosen another language you would have had another language file and you would have had to put the description in there. Basically the English language file is created and gives you the possibility to change all strings in the system to whatever you wish.

I don't think those column charts really stop working but if they do not display what you want I assume a page refresh should be enough. A total rebuild of the site is really too much.

@Andy:
@Patrick:

Since you now both reported an anomaly to the charts when the CloudBase chart is included. I am looking into it (again).

So far I have found that the data arrays which are passed to HighCharts for both Temperature and CloudBase are of the same size and have the correct values. But when the last value of the array is at 13h49, the chart itself displays a value at 13h50. As that is an undefined value in the value array, I think that is responsible for the strange things you see. The cause may be in that one measurement is missing - as far as I can see it is not - or that the X-axis is shifted somewhere which seems very unlikely.

But please include CloudBase so I can see what is going on.
This will take some time.

Regards,
Hans

Hi Hans

I think you missed my point, the CloudBase chart works perfectly. I have got the axis working as I want and the title makes sense.

The main issue is the WindRun chart which displays the data in columns as expected when you run the WebSite but when you run CompileOnly the data is summed on the RHS of the chart. Similarly with the PWS Fire index chart which also displays in columns.

I have been able to sort the axis legend for the Fire Index chart using the CUstringsEN file but it is not possible to do so with the WindRun chart which has no free space on the LHS of the chart.

On the WindRun chart I have tried to define the Axis as Distance or Free but neither of them work and no dimensionless entries are seen in the CUstringsEN file.

I think that this Windrun issue cropped up at the end of last year. I have attached a copy of my CutilsCharts.def file for info.

Hi Andy,

Ok, I'll take a look.
But I really get confused by your and Patricks reports on where the charts show errors. Could you (and Patrick) post some screenshots indicating where there is an issue? When I look at your site(s) I don't see a problem.

Hans

Ok, thanks.
I think it is the same problem we're talking about only column behaves differently from line
If you wait for 10 minutes until the refresh (or what is your frequency) my guess is that the graph will refresh into the correct display.

Ah hah

So I am impatient and expect the columns to work instantly ;) .

Of course if a line is not refreshed in a 15 minute cycle it is difficult to see a change but a column is either there or not and very visible.

The windrun chart and pws fire index charts do refresh properly in the normal 15 min cycle.

Mystery solved thanks :)

Hi
Here is what I see on your Hans site and whatever the browser a temperature at 4.2 ° C on the dial and 6 ° C on the graph.

I think that is not surprising as the gauges are realtime ie every 15 secs and the charts are refreshed with new data every 15 mins

Hi Andy
This may be a page refresh issue to watch out for. I just relaunched CloudBase on my site to follow. Before CloudBase I had never noticed this problem.

No you're not impatient, the charts should be correct immediately: that's the bug.

So there is a bug, and we are talking about the same issue even if the expression of the problem is different in different charts.

The problem to understand is that you indicate the red line as temperature but it is not: that is pressure.
Temperature is the blue line. So the values are more or less OK

But both the pressure and the temperature line show at the right hand side a sudden change of value (red goes down and blue goes up).
And that is the indicator of the issue which at the moment I do not really understand.

But if you wait ten or 15 minutes, the charts recover automatically with the refresh.

This is true for all charts, column, line, or whatever. Only the expression of what happens visually is different.
