Errors - Ecowitt GW1100a & WS80 - Wind Speed / Direction

Post by Hoeveld »

Overnight we had high winds due to storm Corrie, keen to check the data I noticed unusual / odd / wrong data for Wind from the WS80

I attach screen grab of " Flat Line " showing the errant readings. Temp data for same time slot seems OK.

Time frame was from about 10:00pm through to 02:30am.

The GW1100 had all other sensors disabled as previous postings advise.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received......

Cordially

Paul

Please post your MXdiags file.

Does the data on Ecowitt.net look OK?

To the best of knowledge.........Yes.........you will see the data looks OK after 2:30am.

Temp data looks to have no lapses or flat lines..........

This seems to show the GW1100 starts to fail transmitting data to Ecowitt.net on the 27th already.
So it is pointing again to the GW1100 as the cause, not the WS80. Or am I missing something?

NOTE: I notified Ecowitt support in the course of my ongoing issue regarding this phenomenon.

Why did you on/off the GW1100 ?
It seemed to be all OK at that moment (you did not look at the Ecowitt.net at that time did you?).

As from 27th there seems to be an issue reporting to Ecowitt.net - Yes

It now seems to be reporting OK to Ecowitt.net after I switched off and on again just before 8am

I only looked at ecowitt.net after Mark suggested I look at it........9:30am or so

I switched off and on again thinking there may be an issue with GW1100.......

Thanks

OK.
As long as Ecowitt does not come with a solution I would reboot the GW1100 at least once per 3 or 4 weeks for your operational system.
I don't see another solution atm.

Any other idea's?

Ok........will do
For the record all unused sensors were disabled at onset and prior to installation / setup......
Will see what Mark has to say......
Do you suggest I contact Ecowitt ? If so what should I send / say ?

They are aware but additional reports no doubt will be useful to get some urgency. We hope
Just report what happened and see what they say. Point to the GW1100 and the proof.

There is nothing of interest in the log file regarding this.

You do have lots of errors relating to your WOW upload though....
WOW Response: ERROR - Response code = 429, body = The custom error module does not recognize this error.

You are also uploading to WOW every minute, they ask you to not upload any more than every 5 minutes, otherwise you might get your uploads blocked.

Thanks for that.

I'll change the wow settings.

At this point shall I report to Ecowitt and wait and see ?

Or is there anything else I should do ?

@hoeveld: Somebody replied on wxforum
what version of ws80 do you have? If you have the latest version with sht40 detachable sensor you need to update the firmware (1.2.0).
You could try and update the firmware to make sure. But you would need to dismount the WS80 and USB cable it up on your desk to do this.
Hope you did not mount it on the roof ;)
