Tried to double-check the Maplins page and it comes up as discontinued. Presumably something else will take it's place there.

They were probably out of stock then; but strange they are selling the 'B' grade ones for the same price?

Back in stock now, with a note saying "While Stocks Last" on the B Grade. Standard and B Grade still both @ £69.99.

As mentioned the 1080 has been superceded by the 1090
Similar beats, different layout, better contrast, but same sensors.
I would suggest that for a good price for the 1090 (although a bit more that the 1080) and from experience, superb service if anything goes wrong.. try

Hi, I just got the Maplins weather station with the code N96FY for Christmas, and the instruction manual says its the WH1080 (the one without the Automatic Clock). Think the WH1081 had the code N96GY but is now no longer on there site.
I haven't set mine up yet, but I suspect when I do I will be back with any questions.
Ian.

Ian, I think you have those around the wrong way; the WH1080 has the automatic radio controlled clock ( I have one), and I'm pretty sure the WH1081 doesn't.

I have a WH1081 and it doesn't have an automatic radio controlled clock. Also, it uses 433.9MHz Tx frequency. I bought mine about 10 months ago. Also Maplin N96FY

Yep, sorry, I got it the wrong way round. I was going from memory as I haven't got mine with me at the moment (and can't get it due to the snow, and this is the time that I really want it up and working

). But someone has just looked for me, and the one I got (N96FY) does have WH1081 on the back of the display unit.

I've had my WH1081 (maplin part no N96FY) and although the touch screen display appears to have the radio beacon down in the bottom left corner, it's never been bold. I've also found that whilst setting it up the + and ON/OFF "buttons" on the touchscreen were dead zones. Not really bothered as I don't need any of the alarm functions and use Cumulus to view the weather trends rather than the panel

In case anyone is interested. The N96FY is on the Maplins web site for £119.99 now, however I have just been into the London City store (nr Liverpool St Station), and they had six N96GY on the shop floor, marked up at £59.99.

There are several ebay sellers in Aus that are selling the WH1091 for A$119.00 (~68pound) although I've seen them sell for as low as $100 (~57pound) in the auctions. I haven't seen them discussed on here much, do many people have this model?
(sorry I don't have a pound sign on my keyboard

)

Hi everyone. I see some of you are talking about different models that have radio control clocks and different frequencies etc. I have the WS1081PC model (note the WS not WH). This model uses 433MHz, has a range of 300ft, and does not have a radio controlled clock. I think it's the model intended for the New Zealand/Australian area where I am. The WH1081PC uses 868MHz (Europe) or 915MHz (North America), has a range of 300ft, and does not have a radio controlled clock. The WH1080PC uses 868MHz (Europe) or 915MHz (North America), has a range of 450ft, and does have a radio controlled clock. I was confused for a long time as when I bought my station the manual they had put in the box was for the WH1081PC instead of the one for the WS1081PC. There is a manual for each type and I have all 3 now. There are also some differences in the specifications of the instruments used for each type. I have attached the manual for the WS1081PC.

Andrew, looking through the pdf file of the WS1081 and my WH1080 the only differences I can find is the transmitter frequency and the fact that the 81 models have no radio controlled clock, whereas 80 models do; all the technical spec appears to be the same.
Interested in the difference between WH and WS models; perhaps just a marketing code for different countries?
