And these were definitely registered by your station and not strikes that the app is pulling in from nearby stations? I'm not sure how you tell the difference.

You do have the 'Use the lightning sensor data from your Ecowitt' ticked in 'Settings' - 'Extra Sensor Settings'- 'Use a HTTP Station for extra sensors' - 'Ecowitt' - 'Lightning'?

That setting is worth checking, but it should not affect the Tempest data as the tempest station does not take it into account and applies it's own data anyway.

The tempest is odd in that the lightning and rainfall displayed in the app and web page is not necessarily the same as that recorded by the station. They process the data and compare it nearby stations and come up with a number. Personally I prefer a station that reports what it has measured.

As I understand it, the rainfall is processed because of the nature of the sensor which does not measure water volume or weight but counts drops and is inherently subject to large variances. Ecowitt have the same problems with their haptic rainfall sensor on the WS90. Ecowitt are trying to solve it by allowing the user the tweak all sorts of gain values; from what I have seen it is still unreliable.
