Station setting

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Station setting

Post by Eoledhv »

After searching on the forum, where I found nothing, here is my problem:
After changing the version (from Cumulus MX v.3.8.2 build 3092 to Cumulus MX v.3.14.0 build 3159), in the "Setting" menu, the following pages are not displayed:
- Station setting = off
- Internet setting = off
- Extra web files = settings of the previous version
- Calibration setting = off
- NOAA setting = off
- MySQL setting = on
- Alarms = on
- FTP Now = on
Thanks for your help and have a nice evening.

If you did copy all the files and folders from the new version over the old ones, one possible cause could be a browser caching issue. I would try a different browser or incognito/inprivate browsing window. Also the version jump is quite big, so did you read all the release notes from versions between the old and new?

I am afraid it is nothing to do with browser or it's cache.

Build 3092 was a very old release and in order to upgrade to 3159 you need to at least read all the changes documented in the update.txt file. Specifically release3.10.0 Build 3115 onwards where massive changes took place in page layouts and the way they are presented in the dashboard pages and the default web site viewtopic.php?p=151428#p151428. The interface folder contains massive amounts of changes and they are built using .json files.

I would suggest you follow the updates through and you will discover what the problem is.

You are correct, that there are huge changes, but those should not affect the local Cumulus console settings interface, rather only the default website and its processing.

If you can't even open the settings pages on the local web console, and if it is not a browser caching issue, basically there must be something very wrong with the installation and/or cumulus.ini files that stores all the settings.

Try a new update, making sure ALL the files/folders of the new version are installed.

Enjoy,

You should have read https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Updating_MX_t ... or_version

As you were at release 3.8.2, you need to install 3.12.0 next, that will get your Cumulus.ini file converted to use the new settings, as per instructions in release announcement viewtopic.php?p=155602#p155602 for version 3.12.0.

You then can upgrade from 3.12.0 to 3.14.0 to get yourself to a release that is supported by the developer.
SamiS wrote: Fri 10 Dec 2021 1:20 pm cumulus.ini files that stores all the settings.
The Cumulus.ini file at 3.8.2 does have different setting content to the file at 3.14.0 - see release announcements for an indication of how many settings have changed relating to selecting weather stations.

The relevant page in Wiki https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Cumulus.ini was last updated for the first 3.12.0 beta before the public 3.12.0 release, so it was unable to be specific, but it includes a warning telling you to expect the experience you have had:
Note that 3.12.0 (when first installed) apparently automatically rewrites this file, to remove some historic parameters, and to insert some new parameters, hopefully the support forum will explain this, as it appears people are losing some settings due to this file rewrite, and have to manually add those lost preferences back.

Hello,
So much trouble for this big update! :bash:
A big thank you to sfws for his help that I followed to the letter. The most complicated was to understand where to find the version 3.10.0. There is a lot of information and when the person is not used to make these updates, it is the jungle.
But finally it works with version 3.14.0 b3159. ;)
Thanks again for this help.
Have a nice day!

Doh. :groan: I have totally missed the fact that you need an intermediate update. I knew that the ini file structure has changed, but I have never seen a note on the updates or release changes, that clearly would state that you must use 3.12.0 for the conversion. I thought, that all the new versions are capable of doing the conversion.

Luckily this came now to my knowledge also, since I’m just upgrading my own installation from build 3133 / 3.11.4 to current version.

If all is working with the newest build after following sfws’s instuctions, I don’t think there is any reason to downgrade.

Down and upgrading will not affect these pages (maybe only the settings themselves). If they are not displaying it will be one of two things. Either not all the files in the /interface folder have been copied across from the zip, or your browser is caching the old pages - have you tried a Ctrl-F5 refresh, or opening the pages in a private/incognito tab?

Hello to all,
A little bit of news,
I came back to my V3.82 Build 3092 then installed the 3.12.0 then the 3.14.0
The menus Station Setting = NOK, Internet Setting = NOK. The cumulus.ini files have been rewritten each time.
I opened Cumulus in a private Chrome browser. EVERYTHING works fine.
I cleared Chrome's cache and restarted the Cumulus interface, everything is OK.
Thanks for your help.
