Wind Speed Bug?

Just had a squall line pass over, and I registered a 32mph average wind speed spike, which was higher than the gust. It went from 19mph to 32mph, then back down to 21mph a minute later.

Code: Select all

2021-12-07 13:04:49.340 New all-time record: New time = 2021-12-07 13:04, new value = 32.429 "High wind speed" prev time = 2020-02-09 12:22, prev value = 31.000
2021-12-07 13:04:49.356 New monthly record: month = 12: New time = 2021-12-07 13:04, new value = 32.429 "High wind speed" prev time = 2020-12-27 00:50, prev value = 27.000
Impossible for it to jump like that..

The 1 minute graph data didn't catch the 32mph, but it does show 19mph to 28mph within the space of 1 minute, then back down to 21mph a minute later.

I closed CMX and put all the records back to what they were before the spike. I reopened CMX, and it instantly puts the wind speed back to 32mph at the time I reopen the software. :?

Code: Select all

New monthly record: month = 12: New time = 2021-12-07 13:25, new value = 31.000 "High wind speed" prev time = 2020-12-27 00:50, prev value = 27.000
New monthly record: month = 12: New time = 2021-12-07 13:32, new value = 31.667 "High wind speed" prev time = 2021-12-07 13:25, prev value = 31.000
I've fixed the records.

Still none the wiser as to what's going on - ie another anemometer fault, or a bug elsewhere.

Hmm, what do you have set for "Average Wind Speed" and "Speed for average calc"

wow - yes, "Speed for average calc" was enabled. Strange! All of those are normally unchecked, so I'm not sure how that happened?!

If that's definitely the cause, then I am relieved, as I was worried that the anemometer was to blame. Phew!
