Kinda odd. The dashboard is reading the Cumulus clock but no data? Gotta be something so simple we're not seeing.

Anyone else with ideas?

Can someone tell me how Cumulus reads the data from Ecowitt? Maybe that will help me understand a little more?

What is the FTP stuff? Can we try to copy and paste data to see if it shows up in the records?

It does say

Code: Select all

2021-12-04 07:44:22.203 WS Connect From : 192.168.1.7
while your previous post said the IP had changed. Could you confirm you are using the correct ip (in CMX and in the station?)

You just had the best support you can get, if mcrossley says you to try https://ear.phantasoft.de/, it might be a good idea to do so.

And Cumulus most likely reads the Ecowitt through a HTTP client call, receiving the string directly.
It works for many others, including me.

Note that your logs say several times:

Code: Select all

2021-12-03 07:48:27.304 WS Connect From : 192.168.1.7
so there is a connection which either gets broken or does not receive.
Maybe you switch on debug and data logging (program settings) and post the logfile after a few minutes of running (please attach the file not a cut and paste of some fragment).

Could you be more specific? From what you ask I would say: no.

IP is correct just odd how in the Device list on the app its showing a different IP (192.168.1.9) than what Cumulus is using (192.168.1.7). When I go to the device list IP nothing is loading. This could be our problem?

Yes, just loaded the data. No idea what Im looking for but Looks like the data is showing up but I see a wrong station model number? model: WS2350_V2.37. I have TP3000.
Is there anything I need to look for specifically?

I was pasting the entire file but I attached a file this time.

Just wondering if we can paste data into a folder for Cumulus to have a history of data. This might confuse things though, Im overthinking things.

Yes, it could be. Let's focus on this for the moment.

No, for the moment nothing specific. It is now confirmed the device is sending data so we focus on the relation between CMX and your TP3000. The device name difference may be the result of some trading company using stickers on the outside but does not know or care about the inside. It seems to tell that you have a WS2350 device with version 2.37 of firmware. The WS2350 seems to point to a La Crosse (through Google) which may ring a bell by somebody more into hardware specifically the compatibility with the Ecowitt HTTP protocol. So if somebody knows, drop a line.

OK. Let's focus on the connection. Storage of data happens the moment CMX starts reading data. One step at a time.

I'll get back when I read the logfile and thought over the IP issue.

Note that the IP address it showed in de device screenshot, is the actual address it is thinking it is working on. So if you can't connect to that address there may be something wrong on the device side. On the modern devices it should be possible to connect through your browser to that address (192.168.1.9) to configure the device as admin. You could maybe with a port scanner look for ports on that address. I don't know how things developed but maybe the device does not have an option to login and configure from a browser.

Then when you configure the device to communicate with CMX in the customized section of the weather services (like you showed here) you must confirm:
"Enable", "Ecowitt" on "192.168.1.7" with the path "/station/ecowitt" on port "8998" and an upload interval of "20". It most likely is correct by now, but just to confirm.

It may be useful to reboot the device and the router. Do you maintain fixed addresses in the router (the DHCP server) for your TM3000 and CMX?

NOTE: I think I missed you need to confirm the IP for the CMX machine to be 192.168.1.7!

This means that data stream being received contains no data so something is still wrong.

Please set the logging in the dashboard (Program Settings / Logging Options and Tick Debug, Data and FTP logging), scroll down to the bottom and click Save Settings.

Stop CumulusMX with a CTRL+C in the black DOS window. Start it again (make sure you are right clicking on the .exe and selecting "Run As Administrator). Let it run for 5-10 minutes and then stop it and upload the complete .txt file from MXDiags so we can take a look at what is going on.

Then edit Cumulus.ini and look for NoSensorCheck. edit the 0 (zero) setting to 1 (one), save the file (Save As making sure you overwrite it) and then start MX again as in the last paragraph and then stop it after 5-10 minutes and upload that set of logs.

Make sure you edit NoSensorCheck back to 0 (zero) after this.

yes, confirmed that.

Honestly, not sure how to make it fixed or not. I think everything is static because I have other wireless devices and they are working fine.

Dont laugh but what is the CMX Machine? I just went into the Router Admin and I dont see any device connected to that IP. There is a 192.168.1.9. But how is Weatherunderground and Ecowitt reading the station if the IP is wrong?

I followed all your steps. Attached is the 1st file from MXDiags after the 1st 5 minutes with NoSensorCheck at 0

Running it for 5 minutes more with NoSensorCheck at 1. Will attach file in a few minutes in a new post

And here it is after 5 minutes with NoSensorCheck at 1

Changing back to 0 now.......(EDIT::: It was already at 0) I know I saved it before as 1 because I doubled checked it by closing and reopening that file and it was set at 1. But after running Cumulus its back at 0 now without me changing it.

Hope this helps!

FYI.. It's saying "You are not running the latest version of Cumulus MX, build 3159 is available" now. Didnt see that before.

Sorry but that log is still saying
Minimum data set of pressure, temperature, and wind is not available and NoSensorCheck is not enabled. Skip processing
so NoSensorCheck was not set to one. Did you forget to overwrite the Cumulus.ini when you edited it?

Need that because we may see the datastream with it set and it might give us a clue as to what is happening.

Ignore the update message Mark has just today released version 3159.

CMX stands for CumulusMX so the CMX machine is the computer where you run CumulusMX. Sorry for the abbreviation ;)
So I ask for the ip address of that machine.

WU (weather underground ;) ) does not read the station neither does Ecowitt, they receive messges send by your station.

Your station also sends messages to CMX hence it requires the correct ip address (currently the CMX ip address is set as 192.168.1.7, my question was to confirm that address).

Would it be possible for you to snip a picture of your Routers assigned IP addresses so we can see if you are using the right IP address?

Something like this (https://www.softperfect.com/products/wifiguard/) will sniff your network and show the attached devices (use the free 5 day trial download).
