Changing from 24-hour template time? [C1]

I know how to work around this using PHP, but is there, or will there ever be, a way to change the time the generated templates use from 24-hour to 12-hour time?

I know the "all time" records use 12-hour time, but why isn't the all-time records or why isn't there an option to change it? There's a way to change the display time from 24-hour to 12-hour.. but not for templates. :?

In my opinion, weather data should always be quoted using the 24-hour clock, so I never added a 12-hour clock option. And then there's the fact that I originally wrote Cumulus for myself, never imagining that people in the US, the rest of Europe, and the southern hemisphere would want to use it - this in itself has created a few challenges. It's why many of the things in Cumulus are less than ideal. I added the 12-hour clock display setting for the clock in the top-right corner as it was easy, and it's just a clock.

It's unlikely that I will ever do a full 12-hour clock option for Cumulus 1.

Aha! I see. Well. It was worth a try! :) Thanks for the reply.

Just to be clear - my reason for it being unlikely to be added to Cumulus 1 is not because I think it's wrong; I've been cajoled into adding a number of things to Cumulus that I don't agree with. Simply that it's too much work.

That's fine. I went ahead and made PHP convert the 24-hour time to 12-hour time, so all is fine. :)

Just for reference:

Code: Select all

<?php echo date("g:i A", strtotime($moonrise)); ?>

That's good. My philosophy is that if you can do something on your web site yourself that doesn't require me to do anything to Cumulus, then that's the correct solution :)

Of course. That let's you work on the more important stuff. Besides, it's not like many people need 12-hour time to really have a need to add it. ;)

You mentioned that this option won't be added to version 1. Any chance of it showing up in version 2?

I'm afraid my feeble US-ian upbringing has left me unprepared for 24 hour time, despite the fact I know it is superior. :D

Yes, I think so, eventually. You will notice I use that word a lot when talking about Cumulus 2. I'm thinking of changing its name to "Cumulus 2 Eventually" :)

Well, as long as you understand and accept that, then it's OK for me to provide an inferior alternative :lol:
