Newbie question: pressure offset

Hi

Just been given an N96GY for Christmas ;-)

We're 340m up in Teesdale so obviously I need to adjust the pressure reading for height ...

My understanding is:

- You can manually adjust for relative pressure on the FO console and this will affect the datastream fed to Cumulus (ie the data Cumulus receives will be the 'adjusted' data)
- You can alternatively manually adjust in Cumulus
- The height that you enter on the Cumulus setup form is purely related to web output and doesn't result in any relative pressure adjustment

Am I correct?

Cheers

Correct, but you should probably set the console in preference to using the 'calibration' setting in Cumulus.

Cumulus doesn't use the height that you enter when determining the sea-level/relative pressure, true. It does use it however, when calculating 'altimeter pressure' for sending to CWOP. Whether this is a sensible thing for it to do for Fine Offset stations is debatable, but it does that way for consistency with other station types.
