Rain counter stops with build 3143

Hello
I have two WMR928 station each connected to a Raspberry Pi 3+ with CuMX 3143
I also have another WMR928 connected to a WIn 10PC with both CuMX 3143 and WD using a serial splitter.
Everything has been working good for many years until upgrade to 3143.
Yesterday we had a lot of rain and all three CuMX stopped counting at the same time, two at 8mm and one at 7,9. I have bigger funnels so the rainfall multiplier is 0.16.
The rain continued counting in WD to 18,7 mm before the rain stopped.
In the meantime I reverted one CuMX 3143 to 3141 and then it began to count again.
Is there something in the upgrade to 3143 I have missed to setup.
Spikes in rain setup is 999 in both rain rate and rain per hour.

Even if the funnels are bigger 999 must be hard to exceed, even in rain rate.

These WMR928 stations probably seem old to many users but mine has been working flawlessly for almost 16 years.

Could you post the MXdiags log for one of the installs that stopped recording rain.

Are you saying that CMX did record "some" rain, then stopped. Or recorded no rain at all?

Here it is

The stations recordec reain and then stopped at 8 mm and 7,9. almost at the same time.
Each are connected to different terminal which has their own rain gauge.

I think you actually have the opposite problem from what you thought. Your big funnel means your tip size is small - possibly below the threshold MX uses.

What is the standard rain tip size of the WMR928?

By the way, you have an error in your dayfile.txt that needs correcting...

Code: Select all

2021-08-13 16:52:24.322 LoadDayFile: Error at line 1405 of data/dayfile.txt : Error at record 14 = "" - Input string was not in a correct format.

arneande, are you saying you have the same problem? As far as I can see from your log files the rain is being recorded correctly in v3.12.1.

You also have a problem with your dayfile.txt. It looks like your time format has changed. The start of your dayfile uses the format hh.mm, but your system is using hh:mm.

Hello
i fixed the error in dayfile . It was from August 2013.
One normal tip from the rain gauge is 1 mm approx 7,85 ml volume.
Diameter 100 mm. total area 78,5 sqcm
A bigger funnel with diameter 250 mm area 490,87 sqcm = 6,25 times more area meaning every tip is 0,16 mm instead.
This has been for working for a log time.

Also got som error with FTP. stoppes when I chenged to 3141.

OK, the tip threshold for you would be 0.09mm so that is not coming into play. I'm puzzled by this one.

The date and time formats are defined by Windows, if the Windows date/time formats are changed, the the format used in the log files will also change.
