Cumulus MX 3.12.0 b3141 ftp problem

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with my provider ARUBA.IT and Cumulus.
For some weeks now there have been problems with the UPLOAD of the data to my provider.

I have already contacted the technical support of the provider, and it seems that the problem arises from FTP sessions that Cumulus does not close properly.

Send files then forget to close the FTP session. This seems to make cumulus attempts to open again and again on subsequent reopenings, and the provider's server considers it an "ATTACK". On the phone with the technician, he told me that there are about 300 requests in a second, so my WEB space is blocked, as it is considered a hakerage.

With the ARUBA.IT technician we have already verified everything, and this seems to be the problem.

I have already had the cumulus settings checked by the ARUBA technician, and they appear to be correct.

What can I do?

Cumulus does attempt to close the FTP connection after every upload, if it left the connections open then many people would be seeing this issue.

I suggest you switch on Debug and FTP logging, and after it has been running for some time please upload the latest MXdiags file (in the /MXdiags folder) and the ftlog.txt file from the /CumulusMX folder.

I can then take a look...

Hello,

today i solved differently, after yesterday it was still stuck.

I contacted the provider's technical support again.

I left realtime file processing enabled, but I disabled the FTP upload which I now do externally. I created a batch file and every minute it renames the files and then uploads them.
Inserted a command in CRONTAB.

Unfortunately, doing other tests costs me a block of the site, and every time I have to open an assistance ticket. The thing is quite boring, also because in a while the managers of ARUBA.IT will send me to hell. I've been stressing them for two months.

I had created the FTPLOG file if it will be useful to you.

The batch file I created is set up as follows:

------------------------------------------

cp /home/pi/CumulusMX/realtime_MP.txttmp /home/pi/CumulusMX/realtime1.txt
cp /home/pi/CumulusMX/Weather_Station_for_Cumulus_46.xmltmp /home/pi/CumulusMX/realtime.xml
cp /home/pi/CumulusMX/cumulus_Pocket_PWS.xmltmp /home/pi/CumulusMX/wview.xml
cp /home/pi/CumulusMX/sunbird.txttmp /home/pi/CumulusMX/sunbird.txt
cp /home/pi/CumulusMX/weathercloud_realtime_template.txttmp /home/pi/CumulusMX/weathercloud_realtime.txt
cp /home/pi/CumulusMX/web/led_wallT.htmtmp /home/pi/CumulusMX/web/led_wall.htm

HOST=ftp.fracassi.net
USER=xxxxxxxx@aruba.it
PASS=xxxxxxxxx

ftp -inv $HOST << EOF
user $USER $PASS
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/realtime.txt /fracassi.net/meteopassione/realtime.txt
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/realtime1.txt /fracassi.net/meteopassione/realtime1.txt
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/realtime.xml /fracassi.net/meteopassione/realtime.xml
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/wview.xml /fracassi.net/meteopassione/wview.xml
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/sunbird.txt /fracassi.net/meteopassione/sunbird.txt
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/weathercloud_realtime.txt /fracassi.net/meteopassione/weathercloud_realtime.txt
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/web/realtimegauges.txt /fracassi.net/meteopassione/realtimegauges.txt
put /home/pi/CumulusMX/web/led_wall.htm /fracassi.net/meteopassione/led_wall.htm

bye

EOF

---------------------------------------

I hope it will be useful.

Andrea

Interesting,

My Host blocked me on Wednesday afternoon after I'd done a fair amount of testing.
Repeated ftp uploads & attempts from my Static IP.

Maybe an Apache upgrade is rolling about that is setting off some new alarm bells.

It seems that my provider has a fairly sensitive system. Among other things, copying the same file in two directories this is considered almost by default a complete FTP attack and block ....

I was copying the files to the root directory and other directory. This seems to be an even more serious problem.

Technical intervention required.

Good job.
