realtime.txt not uploading

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

realtime.txt not uploading

Post by Doncaster »

I've a fairly new reinstalled version of Cumulus (3.12.0 b3141). The various files are being uploaded up with the exception of realtime.txt. This seems to be fine as soon as the system reboots but then stops uploading shortly after. Any thoughts?

There is an issue with the latest Cumulus MX build 3141 where it doesn't process realtime.txt and realtimegauges.txt.
The fix is here viewtopic.php?f=40&t=17887&p=155701#p155701
Download and put into your Cumulus folder.
Had the same issue but the fix worked.

Many thanks. I'd seen that fix but not bothered as I'd not twigged the two were related. I applied the fix about half an hour ago and the file seems to be getting uploaded - the only thing is that on Gauges on the website, the status text box shows 'Not available' even though it is doing.

Try flushing your browser's cache - that the usual suspect for this sort of issue. Catches me out every now and then also.

I spoke too soon. After applying the fix just before my last message, it stopped uploading the file again at 1317.

Could be something dropping the ball between you & your host.

I've seen in the past situations where the hosting server says I've exceeded the Max number of simultaneous connections & then refused any after that point.

Rebooting probably lets those connections close.

Been pondering about this but then thought the other files are uploading - it's just realtime.txt that isn't.

I have a similar issue just now, a restart of cumulusmx solves it.
The cause seems an internet failure from which CMX does not recover properly.
My old post is here, apparently that solution does not work!

Sorry, the reconnect code isn't clearing the "in progress" flag along with the others :(
Other than that it looks like it is working great! :groan:

Is there anything I can do or do I have to wait for a kind chap to consider it in a future update?

Many thanks Mark. I installed this last night.

I've not had time to fully investigate yet, but it stopped working again after about an hour and then about ten mins after this morning's auto reboot.
