Extra sensor identification

What would be the easiest way to identify existing extra sensors either by looking in the datamodel, by webtag, API or by some ini parameter?
Are extra sensors registered when detected?

(Yes, Ecowitt sensors can be read from the inifile but other extra sensors are not. I believe)

Is there a Wiki article about this?
Note: I have not extra sensors myself for experimentation at the moment

I don't think you can do what you want. Cumulus just logs data for any extra sensors it finds, they can come and go, Cumulus does not care.

The Davis WLL has mapping options for extra sensors, but does not mean they have to be present even if the user configures them.
