Cumulus Newbee

Post by clyde66 »

A couple of questions about Cumulus,
Since i dont know what i am doing, please be "mercifull". I am new to Cumulus, or to any other "self weather systems".

1. I have a HW1091 pro, wireless thingy.
2. Is there any way to "send" a picture of my Cumulus on screen display?
3. Windows 7 x64b is installed in my computer. It refuses to install the version 2 Cumulus. Error 2022.
4. Is it possible/allowable to modify the Cumulus display layout? If so , how?

Is that too many discussables?

Where do you want to send it? To a web site? There's no automatic way of doing this, you would have to use some third-party software.
3. Windows 7 x64b is installed in my computer. It refuses to install the version 2 Cumulus. Error 2022.
I use Windows 7 x64, so it's not simply that. I'm afraid I don't know what error 2022 is; at what point does this occur? Is there any more information with the error?
4. Is it possible/allowable to modify the Cumulus display layout? If so , how?
No.

Hi

Steve has answered all of these, but on question 2 would you not be better having a website rather than trying to send a picture of your screen?

There are lots of good screen capturing tools out there but none that I am aware of can do automatic capturing and sending

I think there's some 'other' software that allows this, which I guess is where the idea came from.

You could of course create a web page that looked like the Cumulus screen, and use web tags and/or realtime.txt to populate it. Didn't someone do something like this, a while back?

Hi.

The install of Cumulus 2, error occurs at about 70% and then the whole thing cancels/stops the installation.
I was wondering if it has anything to do with"administrator privilages" (which win7 is SO fond of ).

As for 'sending my cumulus screen', i thought it would be a fun way to get others interested in cumulus, by emailing the displayed picture. I have tried the 'print screen/paste' method but all i get is a black sheet.

Also i would like to send an early appology for any future miss spells or obscure wordings/frasings. I have a slight problem with MS. or as my grand daughter says 'poppy's body runs on Win7' :o)

Once you've given it permission to install, it should be OK after that. I'll see if I can find anything out about error 2022. Does it just say 'error 2022' and nothing else?

MWSnap is very good for this sort of thing - http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html

That's OK; I don't think we've ever had any spelling flames on here, and if anyone starts they'll get a kick up the backside from me. As long as I can get the drift of what you're saying, that's good enough for me.

Steve,

Have just tried to install Cumulus 2 'with administrator privilages'.
Message is now,

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with this package.
The error code is 2203."

Different code to the 'non admin attempt" :?:

Googling suggests that this is a permissions problem, possibly on a 'temp' folder, possibly [user]\AppData\Local\Temp

I was having issues similar to this and it was my anti-virus software. I had to remove it - sleep mode did not work. I am using MS Security Essentials and have no further issues. I run Win 7 64 bit. I also had the same issues with my Davis Instruments SW as well. Hope that helps,

Scott

If you want to capture the screen or even send it via email you can simply use the Windows 7 rather nifty little 'Snipping Tool' .... as I have done so here.

See attatchment:
