I have an old EasyWeather WH1080 station which I have had connected to Cumulus 1.9.4 for many years.
Now I wanted to try the new MX-version but I don't get any update on the website.
When I looked here on this forum I just wonder if the MX-version can't connect directly to EasyWeather...
is that so? Do I need to run the EasyWether-application to create a file where MX can import data?
Do I miss something?
Thank's for any help

Re: CumulusMX does not import any data
You can connect a WH1080 to MX too.
Presumably for 1.9.4, Cumulus connected directly to station console via USB, and did not use EasyWeather file. MX works in same way, it connects via USB to your station without needing EasyWeather.
Can you look at the diagnostics log in CumulusMX\MXdiags folder?
That should tell you whether MX has connected to your station.
Have you got the MX admin interface working? You can adjust settings with this interface, and view your weather data.
If you choose the "Station settings" page and open "General Settings", you can check MX has set Station type to Fine Offset?
How do you run MX?
As explained on running MX on Windows
* you can use CumulusMX.exe - install to install as a service
*or you can open a command window, Powershell window, or a terminal window (depending on PC settings), do a change to the directory with the exe file, then run with CumulusMX.exe, and leave that window open
You are right that MX is different to 1.9.4, but these differences are in how it works, and how it updates an external web site, not how it connects to your weather station.
There are a number of MX documentation pages linked from https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Category:Cumulus_MX which will explain different MX issues if you want to know more.
There is another page (it is a year out of date now) about Migrating from 1.9.4 to MX, maybe that will help you work out any step you have missed out.

Re: CumulusMX does not import any data
The interface is working, I use a browser on another computer to watch the interface and to update the settings but maybe you mean something else?
You wrote "MX admin interface", is that something else that I should use?
I start MX as a console app, I'll wait to use it as a service until I have it work.
The log in MXdiags doesn't literally tell if it's connected or not. It only tells me that the EasyWeather file is missing as I did not provide that.
I Tried using the EasyWeather app to create the file but it doesn't and I believe that it's because it has a different format, (.mdb) not (.dat).

Re: CumulusMX does not import any data
I changed the station type from 4 to 5 as when I checked the old cumulus.ini file the type was 5.
I also changed the port to /dev/ttyUSB0.
And now it works, but I receive messages on the console that it connects to "Fine Offset" repeatedly.
Still, I feel something is wrong but I'm not sure...

Re: CumulusMX does not import any data
Correct. You didn't use EasyWeather on your 1.9.4, so you don't now.
Glad it works.
There is a connection, each time it needs more data.
If you can see the data now on the interface (people call it by various names), then nothing is wrong.
Well done.

Re: CumulusMX does not import any data
Sorry, I mixed the figures I changed type from 4 to 5 not as I wrote 5 to 4.
So what I learned from this is that despite the station is an "EasyWeather" I have to select "Fine Offset" instead.
Is it the same station? I understand that if you select "EasyWeather" MX looks for the "EasyWeather"-file and when there is no such file it won't work. Am I right?
Anyway, thanks for your very helpful comment.
