Nothing happens when I click "HELP" and select "Help Topics" in the latest version I downloade earlier in the month.
"HELP" / "About" works.....

Check that you do have a Cumulus.chm file in the help folder. What happens when you double-click it? What version of Windows are you running?

Steve
I'm running Culumus within Windows 7. Cumulus is fine but when I try to access "HELP" i GET THIS PROBLEM.
1: Click "Help" I get the drop down menu.
2: Select "Help Topic" I briefly get the loading icon but no Help window appears.
3: Select "About...." I get details of the Version and build in the normal way.
The file "cumulus.chm is in the Help Folder.
I've just tried re-installing Cumulus (though I didn't uninstall first just reintalled into the current folder. the problem remains.

It may be 'blocked'. Right-click on it, select 'properties'. Click on the 'unblock' button.

If I double click on the “cumulus.chm” file in the Help Folder it loads, but not from the drop down menu in the Cumulus window.
However I have solved the problem.
1: Closed Cumulus
2: Right Clicked on the Cumulus Shortcut and selected "Properties"
3: Opened the "Compatibility Tab"
4: Under "Privilege Level" selected "Run this program as an administrator"
5: Select "Apply" and close.
Open Cumulus and the Help/Help topics now opens.
A further piece of information that might be related to my problem is that I installed Cumulus outside the C:\Program Files to have easier access to the Data folder. It in fact resided on partition "D" in D:\cumulus
Anyway my problem is now solved
Geoff
PS as I've been such a nuisance this week with two problems solved I’ve sent another small donation for the coffers..........

I don't understand why you need to run it elevated to get access to help. I have it installed in C:\Cumulus on a Windows 7 machine, and didn't have to do anything to get the help to work.

The only thing I can think of is that it is because I've installed it on the "D" drive rather than "C".......though I can't think why. Anyway it is working now.

I thought I'd solved my "HELP" problem, as it Help Screen now does appear when I select HELP/HELP TOPICS after fiddling with Privileges.
However I've just noticed that though the HELP TOPICS menu now opens there is nothing in the content panel. Whatever topic I select I get

You need to 'unblock' the help file, as I described above. I don't know why you're having these problems; this situation usually only occurs when you download a CHM file from the internet (not as part of a software installation).

That page isn't actually relevant to Cumulus; it uses an "HTML help" file, not a "Windows help" file.

This is really odd. I've just copied the Cumulus Help Folder to the C: drive, and it works there.
Obviously the issue is with installing Cumulus on the D: drive. Can that be explained Steve?

I can't think of an explanation, assuming you installed to D: in the first place and didn't just copy the files; and D: is a 'local' drive and not a network drive or anything strange. There's no 'general' problem with installing Cumulus to drive D: as I had it running that way myself for a long time. It must be something specifically to do with Windows 7 CHM file security.
I don't have a D: drive on my Win 7 PC so I can't try it. I could set up a VM with two drives and install Win 7, but that will take some organising.

Steve,
I've 'moved' to the C: drive by re-intalling Cumulus there and then copied all my data and 'ini' files to the C: drive. All is now fine Cumulus is working as is the Help Module. I have deleted the version on the D: drive, so as far as I am concerned the problem is solved.
As for the D: drive installation. It was a normal installation, I just editing the location within the installation process. The D: drive is a simple partition fo Data - I installed Cumulus there simply because there was more space available. the version of Windows 7 I am using is Home Premium.
Cheers
