886 Wind 'Dial' bug

Post by beteljuice »

It has either been Dead Calm and or my anemometer is / was frozen up.

The wind speed 'Dial' is showing 7 mph 10min Max gust. There is no data anywhere for this, and all logs / console / realtime.txt agree that it should be 0mph.

Just going to do a restart to see if it clears ........

.. Yup - 'lost' its 10min reading.

Which one? Top right on the Cumulus main screen? A picture would have been good. I assume the needle itself was showing zero, but the green band was showing 7? For how long had it been calm?

Top Right, as is repeated on guages web page - RED sector upto 7 mph (Green always shows upto 1 in calm conditions)

The red sector is today's high. The green sector is the 10-min high. I suspect that the bands are incapable of displaying less than 1. So I don't understand the problem?

I suspect it had an error trying to update the gauge. Maybe due to rounding errors, the zeroes weren't exactly zero. The bands are actually min and max indicators, so if the 'min' was slightly higher than the 'max', the gauge complained. Unfortunately the error is only logged to debug log; I'll change that.

For some reason, the graphic does seem to have 'hung' on the last none zero value (7.4), even though subsequent data should have been valid.

Yes, my explanation can't be quite right, as subsequent values would all be zero and the gauge only takes integers for the coloured band positions, so I round them anyway.
