Cumulus Support

Hi Folks,
Does anyone else have this problem?? I have been trying to set up the new CumulusMX Email service for alarms.
In MXdiags I am getting this error code, see below:

2021-05-08 16:35:39.853 SendEmail: Error - System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: protocolLogger
at MailKit.MailService..ctor(IProtocolLogger protocolLogger)
at MailKit.MailTransport..ctor(IProtocolLogger protocolLogger)
at MailKit.Net.Smtp.SmtpClient..ctor(IProtocolLogger protocolLogger)
at CumulusMX.EmailSender.<SendEmail>d__4.MoveNext()

No E-mails are being received with either test or alarms.

Any help gratefully received. I am using gmail email for info.

Can you screenshot your settings page? Remove username/password first though.

do you use 2FA on the email account?

if so you will need to create an app password in your google account settings under security, Signin into google, app passwords.

then create a new custom app password for Cumulusmx and generate the password. use that as the password in the admin Panel email settings

I would try setting "use SSL/TLS" to STARTTLS. Or change the port to 465 and set "use SSL/TLS" to Tlsonconnect.

Thanks for the message, Yes I have got 2FA on my email account. I did that all and it still comes up with that error in MXdiags.

Your settings are exactly how mine are, so not sure how yours is failing as mine is working.

I just thought I would let you know, that it works fine with Email logging, turned on, but not when it is off or if you close CumulusMX and restart CumulusMX, you need to turn it back on. It even does the same with Version 3130.

Sorry but !!! You have stated that "Fix: Fix Test email logging "success" on failure". This problem has not been fixed at all. Email logging still needs to be enabled.

The erroneous log message saying "email sent successfully" (when it hasn't) HAS been fixed in b3130.
The requirement for email logging to be enabled HASNT been fixed in b3130.
Think you got a bit mixed up there.
