error when changing setting

I tried to change the name and location of my station (changing an ø in an o).
I succeeded yesterday (changing an o in an ø) but today the reverse does not work.

What can be the cause?

That helpful generic error! I'm trying to fix it in the next release so that intended message is displayed.
Meantime, can you check your MXdiags log file, it should tell you which section of the settings has the issue.

It happens both when changing e.g. the name of the station as well as wanting to set the debug on so I can't supply a more extensive log.

It looks like the web page is sending badly formed JSON - or at least an unexpected structure.

Are your /interface/json/station*.json files definitely up to date?

Next please start the browser dev tools, and capture the JSON sent to Cumulus MX please.

CMX version 3.10.5 (build 3122) - you tell me whether the versions are correct (the date and time are the same in the distribution), I made no changes.

Your decoded Form Data still has "+" characters for spaces, that is wrong, the decoded text should show spaces in strings. The "+" should only be present in the raw source data.

That is what I wanted yes - and it does decode correctly, it is just your browser that isn't doing it properly. I'm running Edge and it converts the "+" characters to spaces in the Formdata formatted view.

Now the bad news, that JSON seems to work fine when I run it through my debug version of MX

I have updated the error handing for the settings pages in the next release. But the new .js file should work with the old MX version and remove that [object][object] message.

OK, Solved it.

The version of ServiceStack.Text.dll was wrong (23 april 2021 which indeed is the day the trouble started).
Today I noticed that the AirLink data were not received anymore so I thought it had to be the library.

I reinstalled the whole CMX version and yes, it works.

Apologies, must have been my error but I really haven't got a clue how and what. I separated the Utils software completely from the CMX and as far as I know I do not touch the dll's nor other assemblies. I was able to set a non-ascii character in the name and description and could not set it back. Strange things. I tried to reproduce this by again copying the same character but no.

Anyway. Solved.
