hi new to this could somebody explain what lowest maximum temp and highest minimum temp mean?

Take a list of all your daily maxima, and sort them by value. The lowest maximum is the smallest value.

Is puzzled (not a very rare occurrence), but what is the point of these two readings, they are just a passing point in a rise and fall of temperature.

Surely the only useful data is maximum and minimum for any given day.

I don't understand what you mean by a "passing point"? They are extremes of your daily min and max values, just like your highest max and lowest min. If it helps, you can think of lowest maximum as being your coldest day, and highest min as being your warmest night. So:

Highest max = warmest day
Lowest max = coldest day

Lowest min = coldest night
Highest min = warmest night

Yes, I think I've got it now; just useful for comparing one day with another, or a months readings of daytime and night time temperatures.

Well, not really. There isn't one of these figures per day, it's a single all-time record figure just like the all-time highest (max) temperature.

Yes I do understand it; just didn't know how to express it.
Like the lowest max in Feb would be lower than the lowest max in July.

Even though it's not that accurate to say so, the max is supposed to happen at day but not necessarily, it could happen that the lowest max temp is recorded during the night and the "scheme" breaks.
