Updating The Pi Image

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Updating The Pi Image

Post by The Dalek Hunter »

Happily running the latest CumulusMX on a Windows Micro PC - https://longsuttonweather.co.uk

Got a spare Raspberry Pi 4b and was going to setup a second instance. When I have had it running on a Pi before I installed it myself. This time I thought I might try the Pi Image - one quick question before I go this route however - is the CumulusMX Pi image update via sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade or do I have to copy the new files across manually?

If manually then I might stick with the self install as I find the GUI easy to transfer files across

If you mean are the files in CumulusMX folder and sub folders updated with apt? Then no, if you want to later upgrade to a new version of MX you have to copy the files out of the new .zip in manually - it's trivial if you use something like WinSCP or Filezilla though.
