Rain this year value wrong ** solved **

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Rain this year value wrong ** solved **

Post by Gyvate »

The rain this year value shown at the "Now" page is 310.4 mm - which is 23.4 mm more than it really was.
The rain counter (Edit) and the entries in the day file say 287.0 (which is the correct value).
At the console (WH2650/GW1000) CumulusMX reads from the rain totals are 287.0.
Where does the program get the additional 23.4 mm from ?
The only observation in this context is that the switch over of the rain year happened on 01.01.2021 01:00 CET (=AM in 12h notation).
There it had collected another 0.3 mm in addition to the correct 757.0 mm 31.12.2020 23:59 - and switched the counter to 0.0 mm
If there were a difference of 0.3 mm I could understand, but where does the 23.4 mm more come from.
Paging through the Jan21log.txt, Feb21log.txt and Mar21log.,txt files shows the correct summary value at the end of the month
(in the Mar21 file 11-Mar).
Any advice appreciated.

Cumulus gets the total rainfall this month and this year by parsing the dayfile.txt file at start-up.

Do you have a rouge entry in there?

Did it rain on the day your posted the query? I don't beleive the Year Total will include the current day's rain until after Log Rollover.
Just a thought.

Issue solved - I found double entries for a couple of days in the dayfile - and that put me on the trace.
There was a second instance running (seems that tagging the option "stop second instance" didn't work - it was always tagged ever since I installed CumulusMX and there were several server restarts in between though).

Now I will check the running processes regularly :geek: .

After deleting the double entries - and some rain record which was simply wrong, no idea why it recorded rain when there was no rain (and my MB didn't record any rain either) - and another restart - the numbers are correct now.
@Dennisdg - it was raining, but now that much ;)
