Hi all
My W1081 seems to have stopped down loading data, when i run the software normally the data down loads straight away the down load box appears then disapears, the problem seems to be intermitant, the first time i noticed it was on the 15th Dec i down loaded the data at 5:23 am all was fine all the records from the night down loaded fine right back to the last record from the pervious down load, i then started cumulus at 18:35 and no data down loaded. The next day seemed fine. The the same on the 17th 09:59 to 15:22 no data missing in the logs file.
Can anyone help?

Regards john.

Hi John,
Sounds like you have a signal that's on the edge to being received.
There are a few things to try, the first thing to try is re-siting the console to see if the signal improves and it starts receiving data again.
Look though some of the posts on here with similar problems; we found a piece of thin vinyl covered wire wound round the transmitter unit and brought down to the console worked for one user.

Zip up the diags folder and attach it here.

Hi Mike
It appears that the data is in the station i have scolled back though the memorey and the data is there with the time stamps. So it appears to be more of a download problem.

Steve i have attached the diags here

John, yes if the data is in the console then it's a computer or download problem. Someone else had this problem and it was suggested you turn off all the power saving options in the Control Panel/power options menu as it may be hibernating if it isn't being used at those times.

The diags files cover the last 10 starts, and you've already started Cumulus at least 10 times today, so all of the files are for today. In all of them, Cumulus appears to have downloaded the logger data correctly.

Hi Steve

ya that was a day that the down load worked fine. Have a look at the 15th I started Cumulus at 05:23 and it down loaded the records from the night no problem, i went to work and came home and started Cumulus @ 18:35 the download box appeared no download took place. The 16th seemed fine, then had same problem on the 17th.

Having monitored the time and dates, started Cumulus on the 19th in the morning approx 06:30 not a problem, I started Cumulus again late afternoon and the download took place back to the last recored in the morning no problem, the last record was 17:10. I came home in the morning from work on the 20th, started cumulus and no download took placed, i restarted cumulus and this time there was a download but one record 06:47 so all the records fromn 06:47 back to 17:10 on the 19th are missing, i checked the station and all the records for the night are there. It seems like there is a problem with the download every other day but why i don't know, i am not doing anything different.

Many thanks
John

You'll have to give me the diags files just after the problem occurs.

Hi Steve

Ya the problem happen again today, but not yesterday so i know it sounds silly but it appears to be every other day. I have not made any changes to my p.c in the last week so pretty sure it's not that.

I started Cumulus this morining and not data from the night was downloaded, It was ok yesterday.

There seems to be something strange going on with your system date format (it keeps changing between UK and US style):
From yesterday:
Read today file: Date = 12/21/2009
Writing todayfile, LastUpdateTime = 21/12/2009

From today:
Read today file: Date = 21/12/2009
Writing todayfile, LastUpdateTime = 12/22/2009

And this:
2009-12-21 06:51:41 : Writing todayfile, LastUpdateTime = 12/21/2009 6:47:09 AM raindaystart = 34.2000007629395
2009-12-21 06:53:54 : Cumulus closing
2009-12-21 06:53:54 : Writing todayfile, LastUpdateTime = 21/12/2009 06:47:09 raindaystart = 34.2000007629395

On that one, the date and time format both seemed to change while Cumulus was running!

Cumulus uses the system date and time formats for some things (insert usual disclaimer here) so it sometimes isn't recognising them when it starts up again, so doesn't know when to download the logger data from.

Do you know how/why this might be happening?

Hi Steve

Thanks for that, it's funny i noticed that the dates seemed different formats, last week i noticed that the date at the top of the all times records was showing ????????????, thats roughly when this problem started. But i have no idea what could be causing that, it's like the date format changes every 24 hours. I have justed checked my time and date settings my p.c, and they seem ok, there is a setting thats called time.windows.com which says it synchronizes your clock once a week on the internet, so i have disabled it for now, but as i say it only started happening around the 16/12 and as far as i know that setting has been on since i got the p.c.
I might try loading Cumulus onto my other laptop and see if the problem continues if not then it is definatly my p.c thats changing the data format. Well at least we have a lead now.
Once again many thanks.

John

I don't think that would cause it. I was going to suggest that sometimes you are logging in as a different user, but as you saw, in one case the format apparently changed while Cumulus was running - or to be precise, while it was closing down, which may give you a clue. I think you must have something running which changes the time and date format, but I can't begin to think what it would be or why it would do it.
